Default Maintenance Surprise

I bought a 2007 GX470 Certified about 8 months ago.

I took it in for it's 60,000 mile service ($500? Wow!) and they just called saying the differential fluids need to be changes as well as the timing belt for another $600.

What's the interval on the belt and diff fluids? I'm officially at 58,000 and that seems quite a bit early.

I bought the truck with 49,000 and as I mentioned, it was certified.

Thanks!

That's what I'm thinking.

A month after I bought it, the air suspension was part replaced cause there was mice living in there and they chewed stuff up.

Makes me wonder about the quality of the inspection for CPO.

Timing belt at 6 years or 90k whatever comes first. Perhaps 7 years but I think it is 6 years.

Is the car out of CPO warranty?? If not, then I assume the recommendation for the timing belt would be that the water pump is leaking. That is the ONLY reason I would recommend that at 60k, but again, if it is CPO, then it is covered....

I would ask them if the water pump is leaking... and if so, then it is covered under extended warranty.

Lexus states every 30k is a mid major and every 60k is a major just wait to 150k they want $900. that being said go to jiffy lube or a trusted mechanic they will change the fluid in your differential for 50-75.00 and you just need to check the belt and determine if you need to change it.
