I'm trying to get a copy of the Powertrain Warranty for a 2007 Lexus GX 470. I can't find one anywhere online. Here's why I need it:

This weekend, my daughter's seatbelt (driver's side rear seat) got stuck in the retracted position. I played with it and jiggled it and it will not pull out. My dad who is a "car guy" fiddled with it and had no luck. It is not twisted, turned, bent or anything else.

I called the 800 Lexus number and was told (may not have the wording correct) that seat belts fall under the Powertrain Warranty which is 6 years 70K miles as they are part of the restraint system which is part of the Powertrain Warranty. When I called the dealer to make an appointment, I mentioned this to them and they said they are not part of the Powertrain Warranty. I called Lexus back who insisted they are. Not sure what to do. There isn't another dealer close by.

Anyone have this problem? Does anyone know where this mysterious Powertrain Warranty document can be found?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kate.. The warranty info can be found in the Warranty Booklet along with the Owners Manual in the Glove Compartment.
Now coming to the Seat Belt info provided by Lexus, "IS WRONG" becoz the Seat Belt Warranty comes under Lexus Restraint System Warranty. The period remains the same 72 months or 70,000 miles.

It's so frustrating that I can't get a straight answer from either the dealer or 800 number! I actually talked to TWO people at the 800 number both of whom said it was covered under Powertrain. At Lexus the service tech said it wasn't covered at all!

Thank you mann777, I did find the warranty information (filed with my purchase paperwork) and saw that the restraint system is covered 72mo./70K mi. I guess I'll have to show that to the dealer in order to get it fixed.

Why is everything so difficult?

Thanks again!

From my experience with a Nissan many years ago, their warranty was quite a bit longer for safety-related items. They replaced a busted / defective seat belt buckle at no-charge well after the initial 3 or 4 year warranty expired. Maybe Lexus is doing the same?!

This was my initial thought. From a potential lawsuit perspective, I figured any company would repair a seatbelt at any time... Maybe that's just me, though.

+1 Lexus is so sad. Profits over consumer safety?
