Default Rear Stop / Brake light LED's

Been thinking of changing out my Brake/tail lights to LED's, Manual calls for 7443 for stop/tailights. Has anyone done this yet--I dont recall seeing a 470 done yet? I dont think this will cause light out indications or anything weird?

And if anyone has pictures of such that would be great..

I know the turn signal bulbs may be an issue cause of low wattage of LEDs so Im going to skip that.

I did this with a 27 RED LED 5050 SMD and my wife says it looks great. No problems whatsoever. The stock looks less bright and orange in comparison. Noticed that cars now stop way behind me...I think because it is too bright...but I like it that way

Ham---Do you have a link to these LEDS? where did you get them from and any way to get us a picture!

ALSO I was talking with Steve at Xenon Depot and he was suggesting using White LED's?? instead of red for max brightness

Mann--I dont think you would want these to fire sideways would you?--Nah

i did mine. i got them at pepboys. i put the LEDs in the middle socket. i also just replaced the directional bulb and the lowest positioned bulb with PIAA EXTREME WHITE BULBS the 7443 bulbs are part #19226 model #h-226e.

i gotta tell ya, they look nice and bright!

i forgot to mention that i have yet to get the quickfire....super-fast blinker "you have a bulb out" warning.

You replaced a total of 4 rear bulbs (2 per side) for the tail and brake lights? You have a picture of them? They look better than the stocks ones?

Did you use white or Red LED's

You need to do the other 2 bottom ones so they match

ok...here's a pic......PIAA Extreme White bulbs are the directionals and the lower "stop/brake light" and the 5 LED ones are the middle brake lights.

the PIAAs are interesting.....in the directionals they are insanely bright....in the brake lights they're so-so until you step on the brakes.

forgot to mention that i put an 8lb sledge hammer on the brake pedal and put the hazards on to take this shot in the rain. don't know how but i timed it just right so you can see what they all look like!

they are:
top - directional - PIAA extreme white 7440
middle - brake/stop - cheesey 5 red LED 7443 bulbs i picked up at pep boys
bottom - brake/stop - PIAA extreme white 7443

that is what's in the pic on both sides. for some strange reason the right side seems to be ablaze in the 1st pic. it may be the angle i was holding my phone.....who knows?

Even though the LEDS were "cheesy" and cheap--are they alot brighter than stock? Is the stock bulb White?

Yes. But for the 7443 fitment. Our reflectors inside does a nice job to make it look "pretty" as my wife says.
