Default 04 Side mirror reset

I had to replace my mirror actuator today. Now my memory will not work, and the mirror will not tilt down when reversing anymore. The TSB refers to a Power System Initialization During PDS. Does anyone know how to reset the mirror? I know seats, windows, roof, etc... but not the mirrors.

There is no initial initialisation for the Powered Mirrors. the one is only for the Doors , Sunroof, Radio, etc. I have attached a TSB which is for Power Windows. For the mirrors All one can do is First check the following.
1. Check the Mirror S/w position ( S/W pointed to be L or R and not in the middle slot-mostly this is where the case is resolved )
2. If still not working then proceed to the Actuator which you have connected, Disconnect and check if the Power supply is coming into the harness, The Gray and Black connector. If the connectivity is there, then reconnect and check again.
3, If the fault still remains then goto the Engine Bay Fuse box Disconnect R10Fuse and check if needed replacement.
4. Remove the ACC relay and check the conitnuity, This is the final check you can make. If still non-functional now you need to target the Outer Mirror ECU Harness connector which is located at footwell area , disconnect and maybe give it a shakedown and rcheck for continuity and reconnect.
5. Finally check if your GX has heated mirror terminals, ensure these are connected to the right terminal.
Hope this solves.
Imp Note: Never adjust manually the Powered mirrors.

Now coming to the memorised setting once the mirrors are working, Store them in the memorised setting button which is located on the Driver side Door panel ( 1. 2) .

Default mirror

Thanks for the reply Mann.
I think you missed my problem. I am well aware of the switch position necessity, as well as the install procedure for the actuator, and memory function on the door.
As it turns out... there is a new TSB as of 09 regarding this issue. Reference TSB L-SB-0064-09. Apparently, for 03-06 models, the mirror ECU must be replaced AS WELL AS BOTH actuators. The mirror ECU part number has changed as well. It is my belief, the new ECU WONT TALK to an old actuator, and vice versa. This would explain why my "old" ECU wont talk to the new actuator, but WILL talk to the old one. (drivers side).

It seems the actuators were changed mid 06, therefore requiring only the ECU for 06-09 models.
I could be wrong, but this new TSB sure looks like a smoking gun.

Randy, I recently replaced mine, but it was the mirror actuator that I replaced, as it was the tilt problem which was not working, My Mirror ECU is fine ( touch wood) Actually what i read from the TSB which you have posted, seems a few models out of the year models mentioned and not all , would have the ECU replaced along with the actuator, sorry to hear you are in that slot of defective ECU replacement.

Mann, did yours fall in the vin range? mine did. If you can, can you verify what part number ecu you have?

thanks,
randy

Randy I just did a quick rundown on the Mirror ECU, the part is still the old part number #89430-60050. Touch wood, ECU still running strong. Regards to VIN yes i do fall in the same bracket as per the TSB. i dunno the cost of the Computer ECU assy costs, must be around 300/- bucks i presume.

I found a used one for 155.
So you are using the 60050 with the NEW actuator part #?

Here is some more fuel for the fire....

I wanted to try and prove my theory. Inside the mirror actuator is a little circuit board. I swapped the old board into the new actuator. Mirror works perfectly with ALL memory functions.

The NEW board in the OLD actuator has NO memory function.

Conclusion: I think there is a definite relationship between the ECU and this board. By swapping this board onto the new actuator with new gears, I saved the cost of the other actuator AND the revised ECU as was stated in the TSB.

Check if the new mirror actuator work normally. For more, please visit www.jawaindustries.com
