Default Replacement Key For 04 Gx470

Hi All

My wife somehow cracked her lexus key (black part) at the back and I was wondering if any of you have had to replace your key.

Any idea how much this would cost and where I could get a replacement

Many Thanks

If it is the remote key you can replace just the housing which also means having it cut to match. The good thing is that the electronics are kept from your existing remote saving lots of cash - and a trip to the dealer.

I purchased a set of two replacements for $40 including the cutting on Ebay as I recall. The keys themselves are not that expensive but the cutting can be hard to find and expensive which made that particular deal so good. I only needed one but it was two or none so I did two - still saving a tremendous amount from the dealer. Just unscrew the old key, put the remote housing in and they key was already matched to the car electronics. For the key to be cut i simply emailed a couple of pictures of the key and they matched it - I also had the key code but sent the pics just to verify.

I bought a replacement housing on eBay as well and then had the blank cut at the dealer. they wanted 70 bucks to cut it but I had my service advisor let them know how "good" of a customer i am so they did it for $25. I it very easy to switch the insides to the new key.
