I just have finalized the purchase of a 2006 GX470. I will not have it for 15 days as it is shipped. I want to add a HID kit and assume the place to go is Xenodepot. My question, remember I don't have the car yet, is does the 2006 already have zenon headlights or does it have halogen bulbs. I assume it is a projector with a halogen bulb.

Questions:
1. What type of system is stock on the gx 2006. Halogen or xenon?
2. How is the projector- some cars it is beneficial to change the projectors. Has anyone upgraded the projectors on the GX 470? I don't see posts on this so I assume this is not a mod people are doing. Thanks, Al

 

Congrats and welcome to GX ownership

1 - halogen w/ projector from '03 to current (Low beams are H11). Recommend Xenondepot as they are definitely stand up and a CL sponsor.

2 - Projector is fine. I'm sure you could upgrade (don't recall anyone here doing so yet) but not needed.

There are many threads re:HIDs in this forum... plus install directions in one of the sticky threads at the top. Here's one of the more extensive ones (5pages) which covers pretty much everything

Unfortunately, we really won't believe you're a GX owner until you post some pics
