Default HID Kit

Hi guys! I have a question regarding HID's in the LX. So I recently got a 2011 LX, coming from a 2009 GX. In my GX, I purchased an HID kit from Xenon Depot. I LOVED the kit. It made a HUGE difference, and I am glad I did it. My question now is, can I do the same with my LX? I love everything about the LX except for my headlights. If I understand correctly, the 2011 year does not have the HID's. It is quite a difference going from my GX to the LX with the headlights, let alone all the amazing things the LX has to offer. If I DO purchase a kit, will it be okay, or will I get weird codes? I also am curious about the swiveling headlights on the LX. My GX obviously did not have those, but the LX does. Will that cause a problem with the HID kit?

Thanks so much for your help.

No reason to go HID. LEDs put out more lumens and are more durable. They don't require a high voltage system.
It's easy to retrofit a high quality LED replacement for your H11 lowbeams and fogbeams (Opt7 or IPF) for around ~100 dollars each.

Thanks for the replies.

I did not realize that LED would be a better route. Thank you. 😊
Is there a kit that is highly recommended? I do not know much about this stuff, but would like to upgrade my headlights.

I put streetglow (made by Cree)led lights for both low beam and fog lights with excellent results into my 2011 LX570 !

I’m planning to replace the high beams too.

I went with what was then the most popular kit on Amazon, which is the Opt7. The Hikari is a newer option and also one of the top selling H11 kits. I have used the 9005 Opt7 kit since I had my ES 330 3 years ago (same high beam standard) and the H11 fog since 2016. The price has come down a little bit since I bought them, $70 for the Hikari and $90 for the Opt7. Both of these use CREE LEDs and should give you excellent performance in both your lows and fogs.

Read the link I provided above to read my experience with the Hikari Philips bulbs. In short, they are high quality, excellent light output a direct fit and retain clearance for AFS and auto-leveling. $90 a pair on Amazon.

Thanks for the link. 😊 I think I may give those ones a try. I am just worried about installation. I am not mechanically inclined at all.

If you can replace a regular headlight bulb, you can install the Hikaris in our trucks. As detailed in that other thread, I swapped another brand of LED for them because they fit better.

You may find the videos on www.carcarekiosk.com (under the Toyota Land Cruiser) helpful when replacing the bulbs.

Actually, while you are at it, you may want to replace your backup bulbs with LEDs as well.
The instructions for that are pretty simple and actually in the owner's manual under Do it yourself maintenance. Only $12 on Amazon and definitely a safety improvement.

Leds may put more lumens but the projector is not designed to throw all that light like a HID bulb would, i would go with HIDs

Absolutely correct.

I have yet to see an LED that will throw light as well and as far as a good hid bulb in a projector.

The LED's will not harm anything right? They just are not as strong as the HID 's, yes?
