Default Any problems with 265-70-17 tires?

I need to replace tires on my GX and want to go up a size to 265-70-17.

I know this has been done before, but I'm wondering if any member had any issues after upgrading the tires?

One of the T4R.ORG members mentioned that the front tire hits the plastic in the wheel well when his 4Runner would go over a bigger bump. Any similar issues with GX?

Does increasing the tires' size have any effect on electronics besides speedo?

I would like not to open the discussion on the virtues of one brand vs. another, but rather keep it focused on positives or negative of going with larger tires.

I already have my mind made up on the brand and model.

Your input is appreciated.

I would also make sure that whatever tire you buy also fit in the spare tire location. You should upsize ALL 5 tires, not just 4. Remember, not all tires are created equal even if they are the same size.

Good luck.

Thanks Thai.

I do plan on replacing all 5 tires.

Good point about fitting the spare in it's location - I'll have to look into that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 265-70-17 spare fits in the 4Runner, so it should fit the GX.

Since this a tire thread, I would love to put some nice 18's on the GX. Has anyone done that?

Cap,

This is a great calculator. Can you share a link to it?

Also, can you explain the Gear Ratio / RPMs chart? How do I read it and where can I find the gear ratio for the GX's transmission?

Thanks,

Stan.

Remember that the GX has a button under the stearing wheel that ajust for different size tires. At least my 04 does.
