Default 60K miles service

Anyone knows what the 60K miles service covers and costs?

Thanks,
CJ

My dealer said "fluids....lots and lots of fluids. $1200". Seems pretty outrageous to me, but they've always been straight with their pricing, so I don't know what to think.

Thanks for the info.

Just wrote a big check to IRS, now the 60K miles service and the upcoming summer vacation ... I better go back to work.

My dealer quoted about $600 including coolant flush.
I believe that doesn't include the differential/transfer case fluids or tranny flush
Spark plugs are another $200.

However at 58k miles (now at 59K+), I just DIY replaced plugs for under $20, replaced all the driveline fluids and greased the driveshaft. Coolant and tranny flush next and that completes my "60K" servicing.

I have 52K+ miles on my 03 and will need to do the 60K service too. Would the owners manual have a listing of things that needs to be done?

all major fluids and spark plugs are good for 120k Toyota does it for less then half of what Lexus charges and a private shop can do it for way less

Replace engine oil and oil filter
Replace engine air filter
Replace engine coolant
Lubricate propeller shaft (4WD)
Re-torque propeller shaft bolt
Rotate tires
Inspect the following:
Automatic transmission fluid
Ball joints and dust covers
Brake lines and hoses
Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs
Charcoal canister 4
Drive belts 5
Drive shaft boots (4WD)
Engine valve clearance
Exhaust pipes and mountings
Front differential oil (4WD)
Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
Fuel tank cap gasket
Radiator, condenser and/or intercooler
Rear differential oil
Steering gear box
Steering linkage and boots
Transfer case oil (4WD)

Additional Maintenance Items for Special Operating Conditions:

Driving on Rough, Muddy or Snow-Melted Roads
Inspect nuts and bolts on chassis and body
Driving on Unpaved or Dusty Roads
Replace air conditioning filter
Towing a Trailer or Using a Camper or Car-Top Carrier
Inspect nuts and bolts on chassis and body
Replace front differential oil
Replace rear differential oil, including limited-slip
Replace transfer case oil (4WD)
Replace transmission fluid or oil

also keep in mind that 03 GX470 have Type T-IV trans fluid with a dip stick and the 04+ was switched to Type WS with no dip stick and 1st change is suppose to be at 90k

Coolant for 03 was Toyota Long Life, nothing special just normal Toyota red fluid, 04+ Toyota switched to Super Long Life Coolant, suppose to be good for 100-150k but it's still treated like normal fluid and changed at 30-60k depending who does it, super long life can replace long life, it's backward compatible.

it looks like a lot but it's not, sad to say it but I avoid Lexus cause they believe in screwing the customer, many Lexus dealers will add dealer recommended service that do nothing but pad the bill, a fuel injector service and be another 200 bucks, I've been through this and I pass on any service that exceeds 1000 bucks when you know it's basic stuff, at 90k when you need a new timing belt and water pump thats a 1200 dollar service for the 4.7L so keep that in mind, can't imagine what Lexus will quote.

Remember that for your year the exact list may be slightly different, and it can be downloaded from Lexus Owner website.

I think a lot of [non Lexus] dealers do it. How many dealers still recommend to change oil every 3k? Which bring the question, why Toyota recommend to change it for 5K? I've never seen any study where there been any difference below 10-15K (include one I was involved at).
at 90k when you need a new timing belt and water pump
Just wanted to point out that V8 we have is interference engines (one of the few made by Toyota). This means that if timing belt fails (or even split), the piston can crash into an open valve. So do change your timing belt as advised by Lexus (non by the dealer).
