Default Transmission Fluid

Hey guys the maintenence screen has started to come up for transmission fluid when i start the car, I was wondering if anyone knows where the dip stick and the fill spot are for the transmission fluid. I could not find it in the manual. Thanks

At least on the LX, '03 was the last year toyota included the ATF dipstick. When they went to WS type ATF, they got rid of the dipstick, figuring you won't have to do it as often. Now, you have to fill through the hole in the side of the ATF drain pan (use a funnel w/ pvc tubing, electric drill pump, etc).

The other way is to pull the input line for the ATF cooler and direct this into a bucket. You then mark the capacity of the pan in the bucket (around 3-4 qts of the 12 qts total), run the engine until that much old ATF is in the bucket, cut the engine, refill the ATF pan, repeat 3-4 times. The fluid in the tranny should all be new.

There's a special machine whereby you pull the input/output ATF cooler lines and plug them into this machine. It has one large resevoir that holds new ATF, one empty one for the old ATF. You just pour the new ATF in the machine, run the engine until all 12 qts has been sucked into the tranny, then cut the engine and Voila!, you're done! Oh, did I mention that this magical machine costs $2K? Ah, but the dealer has one! :-)
