Default Nav question for an '03 GX

I have searched this forum for information on upgrading the nav software on my ’03 GX AND retaining the override capability but could not find what I was looking for. There is much information for the ‘05s, ‘06s, and ‘07s, but not much for the ’03.

I have been using the “hidden” service menu for the override to allow my wife to add/change/modify destinations while in motion. I have been hesitant to upgrade the maps for fear of losing this override capability. Many of the roads in the areas we frequent have changed enough to make map upgrading necessary.

My question is, when I upgrade the map software to the latest that is available, will I loose the service menu override capability? If so, is there another way to achieve the same thing?

I looked into the Lockpick hardware, but they do not list anything for the ’03.

Thanks.

You won't lose the override capability.

Go to Menu
Hit DVD button in upper right to view the DVD version
Hit Top Left, Bottom Left, Top Left, Bottom Left, then Bottom RIGHT

That will get you a blue system menu
Press and Hold Override for a ~3 seconds
Release , and "Override" will be highlighted
Press Back

Then your passenger or you can enter destinations while driving . . .
