Thumbs up Hello to everyone from Dr. E in TN

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and thanks for allowing me to join your forum. I just purchased a new 2006 Nautical Blue Lexus GX 470 from Lexus of Nashville and had a great purchase experience. My GX is completely loaded with additional rear front seat headrest DVD players and Sirius satellite radio. It also came with Lexus dealer installed tint and chrome wheels. One bit of info that I will share is that Lexus has stopped allowing its dealers to put in integrated Sirius satellite radio (XM is still allowed) which was a bit of a bummer such that I had to use a reputable aftermarket installer. It works great however, and I am pleased. I absolutely love my GX except for the MPG fuel economy which I knew about and accepted prior to buying. I have never ridden in such a soft, smooth ride.

Default Question from a new member?

Could anyone please tell me how to change or get rid of the notation "driver school candidate" below my name when I am logged in?

Doc.....

The small font designation under your name will change as your number of posts increase.

Welcome Dr.EinTN! I hope you enjoy the GX forum.

There have been some discussions on the Sirius radio situation both here and at some of the other Lexus model forums. The best we have been able to determine is "Lexus is working on it".

Did you have the dealer install the additional front headrest DVD players? That doesn't seem to be an official option.

I'm glad you like the ride on the GX - it was the major buying point for us against the other SUVs we tried. May I ask what you were driving before the GX?

Thanks for your questions and your welcome to the forum. The rear front seat headrest wireless DVD players were put in at the dealership and are backed by the Lexus dealership warranty although you are right they are not officially listed as a "factory" option. I also ordered the vehicle with the factory installed roof DVD player just in case my third row seat passengers in the future would like to watch something different with their wireless headphones. The integrated Sirius radio used to be an option earlier in the year according to my dealer, but when the dealer tried to order the official Lexus integration kit from Lexus, Lexus would not sell them one. They offered me a XM integrated unit, but I chose to go with the dealer's rec. aftermarket installation professionally done off-site but non-integrated thru the navigation system screen. This was a bit of a bummer. It is FM modulated thru the radio with great reception via the tiny roof mounted antenna. I had XM in my 2005 Acura RL prior to trading it in on the GX and wanted a change. According to my dealer, I can get XM integrated at any point in the future if I wish to do so, but Lexus has gone away from Sirius for now with no exceptions. Good to speak with you!

Doc.....

You can get even better reception by eliminating the modulators and tying in directly to the GX's system by purchasing a device by Vaistech.
