Default Navigation Issue with VAIS Ipod Adapter

Want to let people know that I am having serious issues with my Navigation with the VAIS Ipod adapter installed. It had worked without problem for almost a year, but now the navigation is constantly off by several miles. I have had everything replaced by lexus and still same issue. I am removing the unit this weekend and will report back.

Have you had your windows tinted lately ?? I had a similar problem with my GS when I had the windows tinted. Replacing the film from the rear window and replacing with non-metallic, cured the problem.

The only thing that I have done was have the recent fix for the Clunk. I noticed it about 2 months ago, but it gradually got worse. The last piece in the puzzle is the VAIS unit.

We have had this problem back in January, it was a defective part installed on the board.
Please contact our customer service to arrange a swap out.

I now have the Vais unit with "I agree" override, and it seems to work. There are a couple of bugs/features.

First, if I start the car and go right into reverse, which activates the camera, the input from the Vais unit is missed and I have to "agree" anyway.

Second, I have also noticed a phantom push that changes the zoom of the map while driving. Of course, if I disable the touch screen buttons, the phantom push moves the map off center.

Keep in mind, I'm happy with unit, but nothing external can overcome all of the code and conditions the nav system.

Not meant to sound cynical but:

That is why I find it easier to just hit a button that takes all but 2 seconds of your time.

I am having a very similar (if not the same) issue. I have an '04, so the "I agree" over-ride does not work with my model. But, I am having the same phantom map zoom change (usually when I change from one screen to another, i.e. audio to map) This usual phantom button is in the vacinity of the "I agree" button. So, in the map mode, I get the map zoomed out one notch at a time. I have disabled the "I agree" part of the SLI unit (or so I think I have), but the condition persists. I still appreciate the expanded playlist viewing. But, this bug can be annoying at times. Any comment from VaisTech would be welcome.

Yeah me too; I have the 04 RX w/ Gen 3 Nav, so the I agree bypass doesn't work on mine either. It does work on our Gen 4 nav 06 GS430, but often we are so used to pressing I agree as soon as the car starts up that the 5 sec delay on the SLI does a zoom out for us. i wish there was some way it knew it was pushing I AGree, rather than sending a general signal to press the right bottom corner after 5 sec.

You must be a very busy person then!

I just fail to see what the benefit of this mod is...there have been many posts about various problems with this. I understand the frustration with having to push a button every time you start your car in order to see the map, but it just doesn't seem worth the $ or hassle. I guess I see it as anything else. You have to push a button to turn on the radio...well, you have to push a button to turn on the GPS too?

CV.....

I find it to be a PITA to have to press the "I Agree" every time I turn on the key.

As for having to push a button to turn on the radio, I believe the radio will turn on by itself if it was left on when you turned off the ignition.

Agreed. I just don't think pushing agree is that big of a deal. BTW, you are correct about the radio. But you do have to change the channel once in a while, right?

It amazes me how some of you moan about something you don't even own.

This is a forum about a Vais SLI unit several of us purchased.

Why do I have to read CVsGX470 comments when he,she, or it, didn't even purchase the product?

Here's an idea CVsGX470, go search out a forum about power seats and cry that no one needs them either - or maybe delay wipers, another dumb idea, or turn signals that cancel themselves out after a turn, just takes two second to center it again, how dumb.

This is how busy I am!!

It was an opinion louie! Btw, I am def a man!! my OPINION is that I NEVER bought one because of all the complaints about the problems on this site. HENCE what this site is for buddy ol' pal!! It was of the OPINION of the group that there was problems. Thus, Clublexus saved me some money. I am not about to buy a POS that doesn't work half the time. BUT GUESS WHAT MY GOOD OL PAL...I DO own a VAIS unit for XM. However, unfortunatelly mine didn't have the yellow dot on it! Thus, I was getting info before exchanging. It's an adult forum where people exchange opinions and ideas. If you don't like that I post here, don't read my posts.

But if you want to attack me for having an opinion, it looks like you are the one with the problem...

Or in more mature words...

PS...we have power seats??????

yours,
