so I get this $20 gas card for the ethanol gas .. do I use it or throw it away ..
I'm not sure I want to put that gas brand in my Lexus will it damage the GX470??
any thoughts ??
As of early May, the additive on gasoline is changing from MTBE to ethanol. Most cars can run with up to a 10% ethanol/90% gasoline blend. Check the manual for the exact number.
E85 (85% ethanol/15% gasoline) is another story. Few cars can run on that from the factory, (2006 C320, Dodge Ram 1500 4.7, etc.) - NOT the GX.
Wonderful, that means you can use the card! The switch over to ethanol as an additive is one of the reasons we're paying so much right now...
FROM THE MANUAL
Cleaner burning gasoline
Cleaner burning gasoline, including reformulated gasoline that contains oxygenates such as ethanol or MTBE is available in many areas. Lexus recommends the use of cleaner burning gasoline and
appropriately blended reformulated gasoline. These types of gasoline provide excellent vehicle performance, reduce vehicle emissions, and improve air quality.
Oxygenates in gasoline
Lexus allows the use of oxygenate blended gasoline where the oxygenate content is up to 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE. If you use gasohol in your Lexus, be sure that it has an octane rating no lower than 87. Lexus does not recommend the use of gasoline containing methanol.

Reason: Manual information
I've been running the 10% ethanol blend in mine since new and it runs fine. I ran a tank or 2 of premium and found no increased mileage so switched back.
