Default RES - Troubleshooting, no video

Hi Folks,

Having some problems with the RES? Family is in the GX and I start the ignition, my son grabs the RES remote control and normally hits the DVD function or the REAR key on the remote and the rear screen starts but within the past two weeks, the screen doesn't turn on nor does the function keys work to navigate the front display...

Going to radio shack now to pick up a new CR2032 BUTTON type battery for the remote, hopefully this will resolve the issue, BUT just in case, can someone please identify where in the GX is the IR reciever window, usually on the HOME DVD and VCR player this is a 1" square DARK/BLACK plastic window, can't find it on the GX unless it's dark plastic covering where the DVD 7" screen release is?

I have an IR tranmitter detector and that can "see" if the remote is transmitting, I'm just wondering about this "screen" for LINE of SIGHT issues...

Thank you,

-Alex

You a re correct about the location of IR transmitter detector !
The remote in radio shock will not work,
Check the battery in the remote,
if that will not help you will need a new remote!
Good luck

Alex, I'm not sure how old, or how much usage you have on the remote, but a potential cause of battery drain is the remote being squished somewhere, where one or more buttons are depressed and it continuously transmits. This is the reason for the little remote holder Lexus provides ( and is the first part lost!).

Thanks Loflin, but it's been in the remote holder all this time, so I'm kinda surprised the CR-2025 battery went dead so quickly so soon...

I'm going to simply attribute this to a "bad/weak" battery as supplied by Lexus and see if this fresh one is any better... That battery has lasted about 10 months tops...
