Default Yet Another Bluetooth Query

Hi guys. I just wanted to ask the GX Bluetoothers if you have insights into my problem:

In the initial setup, after programming the vehicle so that it stored both my wife's and then my phone, we went through the following "handset procedure" in order to make sure that our phones recognize the vehicle:
1. Open Menu
2. Toggle to settings Icon and Select
3. Scroll to connection and Select
4. Select Bluetooth Link
5. Select Handsfree
6. When prompted to temporarily power Bluetooth on select
Yes.
7. Select Bluetooth Handsfree
8. When prompted to bond with Bluetooth Handsfree select Yes.
9. Enter Bluetooth Passkey **** and select OK

We drove along our merry way and the Bluetooth connection worked fine.

However, it seems that we have to go through this "Handset Procedure" every time we start the car. Otherwise we get, "Bluetooth connection failed", on our screen.

Am I correct in assuming that, upon starting the vehicle, we should be able to choose, on the screen, which phone it will recognize and then have it link up automatically; without having to go through the whole space shuttle launch sequence every time? Or is that just how the Lexus system normally works? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

NewGx,

The GX cannot differentiate well if you have BOTH telephones w/ BT enabled.

1. YES, do pair both phones to the GX
2. Make sure the GX recognizes both phones and can be utilized
3. Before getting in the GX and starting it up, decide WHICH phone will be used
4. Disable the BT on the phone that won't be used.

Same problems with our household, one week to figure it out, not too sure why this is happening, BT on GX should ask which phone will be used when it firsts starts up...

Good Luck!

Thanks for the response Alex.

However, We still get the "Bluetooth connection failed" even when there is only one of us, with one phone, in the car. Any explanation?

Did you actually turn off (or turn off the BT) in the other phone? My GX picks up my wifes BT phone from the other side of the garage all the way into the kitchen in her purse.

Also check on your phone (every BT implementation seems a little different), that you have it in an "auto connect" mode. BT can be set up (for tight security) where it has to be "authorized" every time. You want to have it set for automatic without a "re-authorization". If your phone has that option.
