Default dvd navigation question

1. Can I watch dvd on the nav. screen even I don't have rear entertainment.? I'm thinking that maybe I can use the nav. player located underneath the passenger seat (this is the player that they use to upgrade the nav. system) as a DVD player. I don't know if this is a dumb question.
2. Has anyone try to program their homelink. (not the garage opener) I have a wireless alarm in my house (ADT) and I want to use this option so I can arm the alarm or open the light inside the house from my car.. Please help on the programming. T. Y.

1. Even WITH the rear seat option, you still cannot watch DVD's on the dash NAVI screen without the add-ons. The system under the seat is for NAVI ONLY and cannot be used as a DVD player. Looks like everything you are seekign to get DVD to front screen would need to be purchased and custom installed. Probably over $600 ($250 for the conversion to allow screen view, another $100 for a DVD player, another $250 or so for the installation labor of running and cuting wires, etc).

2. In order to use the Homelink system with your ADT system, your ADT system would need to also have some type of radio reciever so before trying to do ANYTHING with the GX, you will need to talk to your ADT salesperson about if your ADT system has such a device or not. Most standard systems do not. Cost for that can run another couple of hundred $'s.

So, the short answer to your questions is... Anything is possible with enough money...but nothing is possible without it.

If you are serious about wanting to integrate it into your home, here is a link to a forum that provides details on how others are doing security as well as other home automation projects.
