Congratulations.... May it serve you well. After some time, pls post your impressions of this Hybrid car-based SUV. It'd be informative to see whether the car/truck meets its lofty hype of the hybrid synergy system.

Question

Speaking of model letters above-

The vehicle inquiry report for the 2006 GX470 I have on order (coming in from another dealer) says it is a model 9700A.

Was there a plain 9700 or a 9700B? If so, what were the differences???

Thanks!

All that means is what options the vehicle comes with from the factory. I believe there is only an A, B, and C category.

The alpha character denotes the factory run of vehicles. If there are production changes at the factory, the letter is raised to the next one. Since the 2006's are brand new, the run letter is an "A". If there is a need for a factory recall, the letter will denote which VINs are affected. My truck is a 2004, 9700E. That run might have included the first KDSS and backup camera trucks through the line.

Thanks for the info. They have been manufacturing for several months, so it seems surprising they are still up to "A" -maybe they decided they got it right. From what I heard today, my vehicle is coming in from Japan and so I doubt it was hanging around there very long.

I am sure I will kick myself when next month I hear about the "B"s and some improvement that I wanted or don't even know that I wanted yet - but alas, that is life.
