Default Coat Hooks: confused

Have read most (if not all) of the posts on this topic but, am confused as to why the hooks are listed in my 2005 Owner's Manual. See page 94!

(pardon the poor scan)

The trucks with two rows have the coat hangers. The vents that come with third row A/C probably replace the space taken by the coat hooks. I guess Lexus didn't want to bother with separate sections on two row and three row versions.

Do they make such a vehicle? Since 2003 when they first came out, I've yet to see a GX470 without the mandatory 3rd row seat with rear A/C. Seems like Lexus view on this is if you want a GX, then you must get the 3rd row seat. Then again, its probably the district manager sharpshooters idea to order every GX with the 3rd row seat.

The third row seats are another force option by Toyota.

Hi Folks,

No third ROW seating is available, however, most of the Northeast lexus dealers formed an agreement to only ORDER the vehicles with the 3rd row... If you really want one, you'll have to ask the dealer to special order one for you, and most likely as they have to special order it, you'll not be able to get a discount as easily.

I was told dealers did this to try to cut down on UNSOLD inventory at the end of the year...

And they wonder why people hate car dealerships.

I don't have the 3rd row seat and I love it!! More room and I have the coat hooks, although I cannot say I have actually used them. And best of all I don't have to find someplace to store the worthless 3rd row seats. I had my dealer specal order it, took 4 weeks to get it in.

I thought you were going to say, "best of all, there is a Cargo Cover".

The rear air conditioner does come in handy with the third row seat, not sure if its worth $2000 though.

i don't know if they still do, but my 03 is one of those "unseen" gx470 w/o 3rd seats.

here's how it looks

no rear air (not bad, cools really quick)

and no air vents
