Default HID-LIke Bulbs

All - I've read the posts on the HID kits many of you have instaled. I used to have HID on my X5 and GS400 before that - and kind of miss them on the new GX. Since this is a lease, I don't want to put money in it in the form of an HID kit to just turn it back in in 3 years.

I have Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in another vehicle. They are brighter (rated ~4,000K), but not great. Is there something better out there in the form of a replacement bulb that can get the same temperature color as HID (or close)?

After driving for years with that white/blue light, the stock yellowish lights just don't cut it.

Thanks - Donger

Phillips vision plus are brighter than stock and the Sylvania Silverstars. However, they are not white and are rated the same temprature as regular bulbs.

Why not install the HID kit and sell it on ebay after 3 years? Maybe the cost is about the same as performance bulbs.

Default HID kits

If you get a decent aftermarket kit and run it with a properly constructed wiring harness (with diode such as 1n4005) with a relay connected to the stock connector, it's a 30 min install and can be transferred right out of and into another car should you so choose.

I would seriously consider it. There are no consumer bulbs that match HID in intensity.
