WOW! Thanks for the info! I have looked at a KDSS suspension system, and it's a big, complex unit. It makes sense that a hitch wouldn't be compatible with it.

One option you may have, if it REALLY bugs you, is to trade your 04 "B" for an 04 "C". Resale value on GX's have been outrageous, and you may be able to switch for less than 10K.

How bad do you want it?

So is the backup camera available to be installed on previous production GX470 with Navigation?

sayadil, as for the KDSS, what are you talking about? I knew the KDSS was available. I did not want it.
You can't tow anything with KDSS.
The way I see it, its up to the buyer to do their homework. I found out about the 9700C while setting up the deal. I told the salesperson I wanted a "C" and not a "B". I waited an extra 2 weeks. Got what I wanted.

As I said in the other thread, is your car a Canadian model?
If so, all bets are off. The various items may be different for your car.
hey randy..
yeah it makes sense now why you dint go with kdss... i dint know it would effect the towing power.
anyway my GX is American Model... GX isn't still on roads here.... bookings have started but i haven't really seen anythin at the dealers yet.
But again unless the dealer tells you all the options a GX comes with, how else would you know? i know with any other car i've ever bought the dealer tells you all the different models and features it comes with ... but i guess my dealer (prestige Lexus NJ) dint tell me anything about 9700c since he probably wanted to get rid of this one .... anyone would prefer CAM/Tire pressure over nothing.

LOL. Now it all makes sense. I bought my 2001 rx from Prestige, as they are my local dealer. When I went back to buy a '04 GX, they wanted over 700 a month. I laughed. Asked about a 9700"C".....they were like......"whats that" when of course they knew. They WANTED to get rid of the "B" first of course. Not very good business in my book. The dealer I bought from, in Florida, had no problem at all, and gave it to me i the 500s.

As for the "how would you know" question, I researched all the info I could find on line. Using this site, Lexus owners club, and Edmunds, it was easy to see the difference between models, and gave me the knowledge to go to the dealer with. I mean, you are spending 53k, why wouldn't you do the homework. The last thing I would do is rely on a dealer. They are only out to sell cars. I dont care what kind of car it is.

Back to the original question...do you infact have the RSCA button to the left of the steering wheel on the dash? If yes.....you have a camera with nav. Do you have the little tire press button under the dash on the right?

Hey

Such a Co-incidence. Since i was based in Canada... Prestige lexus were the only ones to do the business... Since its not allowed by LEXUS to sell cars to Canadian buyers. I had no other choice.
Anyway back to your question... i DO have the RCS button but not the tire Button.
And Trust me i don't have the CAM but would like to get it installed. Yesterday one of my friends told me there's a place here in toronto where i can get it done... so i'm gonna take it there on friday.

PS> My car is weird since it came with a performance bulb from the Factory. Has no Thump or Vibration like all these 9700B GX's, It came with Toyo's (tires) Instead of other brands. Somethings messed up. the only thing which tells me that it wasn't used is ... Speedometer when i bought it. and confirmation from Lexus Customer Service... BUt i had my doubts. LOL

Hi GSX4.....

I would think that if you can add a DVD Player and/or a Television Receiver that plays through the Nav, that you could connect a camera as well.

Cap,

Since my car already have both, nav & factory DVD player, can it be done on my car?

To me it doesn't necessarily make sense. Not to say I don't believe it, I am sure Lexus doesn't recommend it for a reason, but what is that reason?

It can't be tongue weight, because that would be too insignificant. 10% (typically tongue weight) of 6000lbs is still on 600lbs.

If you ever have the opportunity to see underneath the back of a GX with the KDSS, you'll see it has a HUGE active sway bar and I assume that the hardwear of the hitch wouldn't fit with KDSS.
