Help: Rusty 2006 GX
Hello Community, first time poster. The attached photos are of my 2006 GX that I have owned for the last 3 years.
I just came across this rust on the passenger side main frame. Im looking for any insight/advise as to whether or not this can be repaired.
This is my daily driver with 175k miles on it, I will repair it if feasible. I plan on bringing it to an auto body shop this week for professional opinions/ quotes.
I would appreciate any advice.

In 2021,
In 2023, added some reinforcement.
If it is getting worse, I am considering welding the frame. My GX is excellent except the rust.
If you want to slow the rust down drastically slap 3-4 coats of this on the frame. Don't wash it or try and remove any rust apply as is (it looks bone dry).

Rust Bullet has incredible adhesion to just about anything. After about a week fill the frame with Fluid Film. To be clear this is not a "proper repair" but it beats having that rust rapidly progress.

Fellas, I'm sorry to state this, but both of the frames shown above are done for. Any accident or heavy towing will total the truck. Any heavy bump on the road has potential to break the frame in half. I would consider getting rid of it, although, one in a right conscience would not sell it in this condition, except for parts only. It may be worth <$5k with this mileage and in this condition of the frame. Sorry, just my 2 cents.
As a southerner I am not an expert on rust.
But looking at how the two halves of the frame member aren't really being held together any more - I would think about how much you love the vehicle and whether the cost of a frame swap is worth it to you.
If anything, this is definitely it's last winter with you.

Sorry about your car OP, personally I wouldn't be considering any repairs, but would be interested to hear what the body shop says.
Given that you've only had it 3 years, I'm assuming it wan't in great shape when you got it. Not much use to you now, but a useful reminder to others to check for underbody rust when buying, and doing at least the minimum in terms of prevention/protection. Spraying the underside with something like Fluid Film or ACF 50 annually only takes about 30 minutes, and is a lot better than nothing.
