Is there a recent thread on successfully using switchback LEDs for front amber blinkers/white DRL? If not, does anyone have steps to do so?

Well, the iJDMTOY switchbacks do indeed work. The only issue I have is the color temp compared to my other LED, however that's not too detrimental. Closer to 4500-5k rather than 6-6500k. Switchbacks work as intended, just ensure you wire correctly. No hyperflash. Link below, however I did get mine off Amazon.
