Default Broken wire

I needed to reset the battery in my GX and noticed that one of the cable is broken. Not sure how long it has been like that, but I haven't experienced any issues. Is it important to address it or can it be left alone?

One of the most critical grounds in the truck. Unless I missed it don't see that wire available separately it's part of the engine harness. First step is replace your battery it is leaking acid. Get rid of those felt pads. Most auto parts stores will sell a generic ground strap.

Clean both battery terminals that is a no start condition waiting to happen.

I think this may be a coolant leak. I took it to the Toyota dealer last week for an oil change and they said there is a hose somewhere on the top that was leaking and the coolant needs to be replaced because it is contaminated. The cost was around $800+ so I decided to bring it back and will take it to my mechanic to take care of it.
Felt pads not good? - OK, i'll remove those.
I'll look for a generic ground strap and figure out how to connect.
I cleaned the battery terminals when I removed them.
Thanks.

Luckily you can secure the ground strap to the negative terminal via 10mm nut. That corrosion is from the battery not coolant. Those felt pads not sure how they are supposed to solve anything all they end up doing is absorbing moisture and making corrosion worse. They can also potentially cause a connection problem because the terminal doesn't sit low enough on the battery post.

Ground strap like this will do the job

That ground strap is part of the engine harness ($800+). I would just find a generic strap and clamp to replace it.

I'm curious how it got like that - do you have a rodent chewing on the wires? Did it break from flexing too much? Is the battery hold-down missing?

Its strange. The battery hold-down is on and tight, so not sure how it happened...maybe too much flexing and age...
I will certainly get a ground strap and put it on. So one end will go under the negative wire terminal and the other end will go to the body where the chopped wire is? Do I need to tape the chopped end of the ground wire on the negative or it doesn't matter?

I would only add tape if there's a chance it could scrape paint off the body without it.
