Default Suspension Conversion and Leveling

Got a wheel squeak recently on my ‘07 470 (178k) that turned out to be the compressor screaming bloody murder after so much work.
I picked the rig up about 4 months ago and new this was coming. I’ve already decided to swap out the air ride for a tradition system, but I come seeking help when it comes to heights. I’d like to source the kits myself since they get so high so quickly it seems.
I’ve seen some posts discussing which kits to use for a standard swap but I would like to level the ride simultaneously as I’m also running 270/70 tires.

Any suggestions on kits or systems? I’ve been looking at the Bilsteins after some recommendations.
All help appreciated.
Stay safe out there.

Dobinson. Excellent customer service. Metal tech has the lower mounting pucks and upper boot cones. Stock height replacement will set at a slight rake.

Highly recommend getting a hold of Kyle Fogle @ Treaty Oak Offroad, he knows GX's inside and out as well as Dobinson's product line, he can help you piece together a kit you'll be very happy with.

With respect to rear coil conversion kit hardware, Metaltech is the only kit I'm aware of that does not add in additional height that you'll have to consider when selecting your rear springs. SSO and Dobinsons kits do add some additional height.

I'm running a 2"F/1"R Dobinsons lift with twin tube shocks, comfort valved in rear, and I love it. Sounds very similar to what you're looking for.

I've only heard great things about Dobinsons and especially Bilstien's. However, I've installed Eibach Pro kits on both my 08 4R (2 years ago) and 03 GX470 (2 months ago). I am extremely happy with performance of the Eibach over the air ride bags I replaced...Like extremely happy. Stock front struts were good, but rear is not mushy like the air bags. Its solid. Just towed a light trailer on Saturday with GX for first time and could not believe how well the Eibach rear springs handled the extra weight.

I got 2 1/2" lift in rear and the fronts settled at 1 1/2" lift on lowest snap-ring seat. So I have a rake I'm not sure I like, but I'm living with for now. Bilstein 5100 and Eibachs have adjustable front height. Unfortunately you will get 2 1/2" lift in the rear whether you want it or not with the Eibachs.

Also, I have the compressor and bags on the covered rear porch if you want to stay stock. Just let me know.

Thanks for the info. I talked to a local VA suspension specialist and we decided on a Strutmaster conversion kit with front Bilstein struts and new control arms. Will upload a photo once she’s all done
