Default Suspension Swap

Hey, I have a 2005 GX470. It's got 250k miles and I'm looking to start moving to more Overlanding use with it. I'm looking for some suggestions for suspension. I wanna remove the air bags and give it a 2-3" lift. Any recommendations for brand or what to look for? Thanks.

Lift kits are in short supply these days, with long wait times if you're after something specific. So figure it out and get your order in sooner than later would be my advice to you.

Also, there are several coil conversion kits available, some have lift built in, others don't, you need to account for this when selecting springs. I recommend the Metal Tech kit as it doesn't add any lift which makes spring selection easier. You'll want the upper spring isolators (rubber cones that fit inside springs from top), but they don't need to be OEM, cheapest for FJ Cruiser/4Runner from aftermarket should work fine here.

There are many options for shocks, at many different price points. If you're mostly on-road, gravel road, etc then you probably don't need shocks with external reservoirs unless you're ripping down washboard conditions.

If you want to go with Dobinsons, I highly recommend dealing with Kyle Fogle at Treaty Oak Offroad, guy knows his stuff and was great to talk to and figured out what parts I needed. I went 2F/1R with twin tube shocks, comfort valved in rear, black body shocks and teal springs, like I said if you're picky there could be a significant wait involved as the stuff ships from Australia by the container.

There's also the GXOR facebook group full of guys working through the same questions as you, tons of info there if you haven't already checked it out.
