Listened to the noise from your video, it is loud. So I asked my wife to video using her cell phone.
Listened from her cell phone, I heard the same noise.
I couldn't hear it with the hood closed though.
My Accord 03EXV6 made that noise too even it doesn't have direct FI.
Even with the hood closed, mine is pretty loud. People always comment on it and its very annoying. Anything i can do to muffle it? Some said something about using some cover from a LS460?
I think I'm glad that I stumbled upon this thread before running back to my dealership... I bought a 2010 GS 350 with 21k miles on it a few days ago, CPO certified, and I really didn't notice any strange noises until the day after I bought it. Squealy brakes and an engine tick are my top concerns...
After listening to your clips, I'm fairly certain that my issue is is the same as those posted in this thread, but I just wanted to get all of your opinion.
I still think that it sounds just a little bit too rough for lexus standard. I had a 2001 GS 430, and a 2010 Camry 4 cyl and neither of them had a tick like this.
It is fairly annoying, but I just want to make sure it isn't a treatable flaw - I hope to keep this car for a long time, I just love it.
I have RX 350 (2013) and been driving it for 3 years, only recently I started to hear this noise - I don't believe this is "normal". Any ideas what could cause this?
A few months back I noticed the same sound and nearly as loud as the previous clip. I change the oil with royal purple and OEM filter, not really as noticeable after. I'll send a sound clip when I can.
My 460 has the same noise, sounds like a big truck with the window down at a drive through. Old 2nd gen gs engine was much quieter, I drove a 2015 gs350 a couple months ago with 2000 miles on it and it ticked too so I wouldn't worry.
I had a 06 4runner same engine I believe just 4.0. Had the same sound, start using vavoline oil and the sound started to go away. I also have a GS350 and same sound happening now. Will be switching oil to vavoline.
