So I'm in the market for a 2GS and I was wondering how often do they get stolen? Are they easy to get into and drive off with? My current car is an Acura Integra and they're being stolen left and right. The only reason why I'm selling it is because I'm too paranoid of these damn thieves that lurk this city. I wanted to see how often a GS300 gets stolen before I purchase one.
I highly doubt that any GS has gotten broken into and driven off with. Unless of course you left the key inside I know hondas/acuras are a whole different story.
they dont get stolen that often if at all but all of the honda/acura guys are getting into the gs's so parts are getting stolen quite frequently such as lips, trunk/roof spoilers and window visors. but we got a tight knit community that looks out for members stolen parts.
It's hard to steal our cars because the key has a transponder in it that the ignition needs to run something (I believe fuel pump?). I could be wrong though.
Yeah I have AAA insurance and before I had purchased my gs300, I had asked my agent and My agent told me it was not likely that it would get stolen...but you never know...

This is what I wanted to hear, I just want a car that I can own knowing I can sleep better at night. I don't have a garage as of right now.

Yeah, thieves are the scum of the earth. I don't understand why people just can't work for their parts. Have they never heard of bad karma?

Interesting.. I may have to research and look up into this a little more.

The only way I can think of someone stealing a GS is a flat bed tow truck. I know So Cal is infamous for this.
Yep, any car can be flat-bedded. Doesn't matter how good of a alarm system you have, it can still be towed away. However, most car thieves aren't going to do this because they don't have access to a tow truck. Most of them just go around popping locks and ignitions on easy cars and drive the whole car away. With a GS, you might have the windows busted in and some parts taken, but it's not as likely for the whole car to be driven away unless it's towed.
I remember reading like 10 years ago about some guys routing their ignition through the cigarette lighter and the car wouldn't start unless the lighter was in the socket to complete the circuit. Something to that effect. Pretty smart when that could be applied in a lot of different ways if you have a car without good security. Then again, if someone wants something bad enough, they'll find a way to get it.

manual kill switches. this use to be very popular in the acura/civic scenes.
if you vehicle is a normal daily driven there is almost no worries unless a chop shop is in need of parts and like stated above towed away. saw one a few months back of a GS completely gutted and dropped off right at one of the busiest intersections in brklyn NY. "bay parkway & 18th avenue"
