Default Greddy Evo 2 Problem

Hey guys I have a Greddy Evo 2 on my GS3. There aren't any mechanical problems, but a few weeks after I installed it I heard a rattling coming from under my car. I found out it was being caused by the single metal piece under the car right where the downpipe (i think) connects to the catback. It's right in the middle of the car. I didn't want to hear the rattling so I took the metal piece off. However, my exhaust when going over REALLY high speedbumps or going through a drop on the freeway will scrape. Is this issue due to incorrect installation or what? Is there any risk? Thanks for the advice.

the rattle might be a bad cat? or some bad hangers

sounds like the heat shield covering the cat. i had the same problem last summer. jacked my GS3 up, took a set of tin snips to it and voila, problem solved. no more rattling.

Just to clear up some things. The problem is not the rattle, that has been fixed. The problem is my drooping exhaust scraping. Pics will be up soon.

Was the metal piece you removed part the exhaust hanger? If it was making a noise did you try to replace the rubber that the hanger hangs on? I installed a Greddy exhaust on my friends S2k and the rubber was fatigued, used it anyways, but it did make some noise. Changed it out and it was good to go. Good luck.

if ur exhaust is drooping, then u either need new bushings or u need to rebend a hanger

I brought my car to an exhaust shop and they said they couldn't do anything about it. My greddy exhaust isn't the part actually getting scratched. It's the mid pipe I believe. I think when I backed up my exhaust may have hit a curb and caused my exhaust to shift forward. I thought that because my hangers seem slightly at an incline, like / instead of |. Any ideas?

are you sure you installed the mid pipe correctly? it mounts up both ways but the correct way i believe is tillted down. if you search greddy evo2 install thread they will tell you. i have the same exhaust. did it myself in the garage and have not had 1 problem. ps i dont see any scrapes on the midpipe so are you sure that is where it is scrapping?

I am pretty sure it is installed correctly. I wish I could get some pictures. But basically the exhaust was touching the metal piece holding it up. The pipe getting scraped is the one that connects to that front of the exhaust. I don't have a lift so I don't know what to say.

I'll use jesse's pictures to explain

In this picture I circled the piece that is rattling. It is not removed in this picture. The C's are for the hangers that are bent \ \ toward the front of the car. Lastly the arrow designates were the exhaust would be scratching.

In this picture, I circled the hangers that are tilted like \ \ towards the front of the car. The long circled piece is for the piece that I had to take off due to the rattle. The arrow designates where my exhaust gets scratched off the screen. It might be the downpipe.

Again, I did not have any problems with rattle. Only after I dropped my car did I start getting the rattle. I think I backed into a curb and hit my exhaust. This may have pushed it forward, causing the whole system in the middle to get lower.
