If I were to get a dollar for every thread I've read discussing tuning a naturally aspirated V8 sedan and how much HP you get from this and that, coupled with this and that, tuned for this and that... I'd be a billionaire.

Instead, it's the online vendors that are laughing all the way to the bank. LOL

The one thing I have finally come to accept with age, is that with a performance sedan.. you accept its limitations and learn to live with what's enough. Because it never is, every little HP you see on a screen will give you a false sense of achievement. But hey, it's your achievement and your money.

Would love to see tuners have a dyno tournament backed up by roll runs. Now wouldn't that be a sight???
But NOOOOOO, results of such event would bring down a company.

This user got 392 whp stock: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...ld-thread.html

Here's one on a dynapack dyno, also stock. 390 whp https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...o-results.html
It was a 100,000 mile car too. The takeaway from those numbers is, that we got the most out of the car stock. Rafi pulled it quite a few times looking for the best result. This is so that every gain recorded from the mods was fully transparent and not overinflated from a sandbagged initial run.

Funny how you say “This User” and link to my post. Lol

My car was dyno’d bone stock in May of 2020 and made 382whp. There’s always variables which is why everyone that cares about improvement and actually knowing what their mods do to their car should get a baseline dyno. Dynos are a tuning tool and all of them do not read the same.

I used a DynoJet which also seems to be what RR uses, but they are dyno’ing in totally different conditions than I am.

THIS is the truth. The performance/price ratio for mods on these cars are horrendous. Even going the SC’d route is not appealing to me (blending fuel). I really wish the 2UR was as mod friendly as the Coyotes…slap on a whipple for an easy 800hp on 93. It’s unbelievable what those engines do with so much less.

The difference is how many people are interested in hot rodding the Coyote vs. how many are interested in hot rodding the 2UR. Lexus buyers are not looking for ultimate performance (even those of us who value performance), they're primarily looking for reliability. It all boils down to the same old story: cheap, fast, reliable. Pick two. And sadly Lexus owners are not going to pony up a pile of cash in sufficient numbers to make aftermarket parts widely available. Ford sells more Coyote powered cars in a year than Lexus sold across the entire GS F production from 2016 to 2021. Lets not even talk about Chevrolet, they're the kings of cheap aftermarket power.

I test drove a ZL1 recently…that LT4 is unreal for the price.
