Default AC servo recall

I just got a "recall" letter from lexus regarding possible AC servo issues. It's aimed mainly for owners having issues that lexus can verify.
I've been noticing hot air coming from my vents occasionally when my climate control is completely off, but it's hardly noticeable.
I'm all for getting free fixes done courtesy of lexus, but I I'm wondering how involved replacing servos are since I really don't want them to rip up my dash.

Any thoughts?

Can you take a pic of your letter? I may have a similar issue.

The dealer letter is pretty long. 15 pages. The Service Bulletin is 77 pages. The diagnosis is quick, the repair is scheduled for around 2 hours depending on what is bad.

Has an issue with the servo motors on my IS 350 F Sport. They had to remove the dash and steering wheel. They damaged the upholstery on the driver’s door that eventually led to a tear and they scuffed my steering wheel pretty bad. If you have having work done, talk to service advisor before hand about your concern for damage.

I thought my 2016 GSF was experiencing this problem too. This weekend i noticed that no air was coming out of the rear vents. Toggled the damper locally several times, even looked to see if the damper was broken, but it was operating. So that leads me to believe the problem is with the servo. I changed the air direction using the climate controls (top, floor, blend, defrost, etc) as well as the fan speed. The air still didn't come out of the rear vent. It appears fine up front. Also, I noticed when switching to floor air that no air was being sent there either.

After posting this into the GS-4GEN forum, i was reminded about the S-Flow energy saving feature. I checked to see if i had that button enabled, and sure enough, it was on... which restricts air to the rear seats. So, no servo problem for me... just user error.

I just ran the test on mine (myself using the service bulletin and Techstream), and there were zero issues, so I won't bother with trying to get it "fixed". The service bulletin (no, it's NOT a recall) is for cars with a problem. If your car doesn't have a problem, they're not going to do anything and rightly so. Why fix what isn't broken?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
It seems like folks up north have the issue more commonly, not because the servo itself goes bad but because the plastic arms are constantly changing to extreme temperatures (like 90-100 in summer then -10 to 40 in the winter), which makes the plastic brittle, cracking the arms clean off. Found out that on my older GS ('99) all the servo motors' arms were broken off except for the airbox control one. After testing all of them they still had a LOT of torque.

I received my letter in the mail stating that basically my warranty is going to be extended to cover the issue if it happens while I own it. It's a 2017 and they extended coverage to 2027.

I received my letter as well but did not get the 10 year extended coverage.

I have a 2016 and my letter states:
Primary Coverage - coverage until January12, 2022, regardless of mileage.
Secondary Coverage (After Primary Coverage ends) - Applicable for 7 years or 125,000 miles from the date of first use, whichever comes first.

Can anyone explain what the service bulletin says ? The A/C on my car doesn't feel as strong or cold as it could be, especially compared to the '17 GS350 F-Sport previous to this car.

Did your 18MY GSF need the servo motor(s) replaced??
Is a/c ice cold now?

@jpohl402 - I actually haven't acted on this yet but considering taking it to the dealer. I just hate to waste anyone's time or incur unnecessary diagnostic fees if it turns out not to be an issue.

Anyone else have weak A/C and have it remedied with this TSB ?

The usual symptom is no A/C on one side of the vents (driver or passenger side). It wasn't just weak AC, there was no AC. For me, the driver side vents were ice cold, but the passenger side was just blowing ambient air. Dealership took care of it no questions asked.
