Default check engine with PPE headers

Just got my PPE headers in I don't remember reading about the car's tendency to throwing a code: "a malfunction in the electronic control of the engine throttle or automatic transmission has been detected"

I had a friend who had told me an ECU tune would remedy this. Any insight on this guys?

I had a check engine when I first installed my PPE headers, but it was because of the O2 sensors errors P0420 and P0430. I contacted PPE and provided them with the error code, and they were able to help him. I found out that I installed the 90 O2 sensors wrongly and they needed to be installed in the mid pipe rather than the headers. After fixing the wrongly installed 90 O2 sensors and relocating them to the mid pipe, the light went away.

Was everything else stock at the time besides your headers? I failed to mention the ONLY thing I installed were the headers. Other than that, the rest of my exhaust setup is completely stock.

No, I had a full PTS Joe Z Series high Flow Exhaust system, RR Racing Intake and K&N Air Filter.

Send us an email at sales@ppeengineering.com with the exact code(s) you are getting and we can help you figure out the issue. If your installer doesn't have a scanner/code reader, Autozone checks codes for free.

Do you have a sound clip of your setup? I have PTS Joe Z midpipe with PPE EL header and stock muffler, it was unbelievably raspy. I was so certain that there were leaks or the install didn't go right.

Checked many times with my installer and didn't find any issues, we then swapped to a Apexi midpipe which I had sitting around, and it sounded much better. Even till this day, I find this hard to believe as they are both catless, and if anything the X pipe from Joe Z should make it sound less raspy than the H pipe in the Apexi
