Default New Front Emblem

Hey all!
I picked up a 2016 GS-F in blue a few weeks ago and since have been working on unscrewing up the damage to the paint and interior done by the dealer. I've put about 20+ hours into paint correcting, and that leaves me with a few places I'd like to either replace or have repainted.

So, the issue I have is that the front emblem is prettttttttty badly sun damaged. I have been looking for a new one, found the PN: 53141-50040
Is there any vendor that sells this for cheaper than the outstanding $400?

Similarly, I've been trying to find somewhere where people have found the black chrome rear Lexus badge, and if anyone knows where I can get one of those. The black chrome trim + chrome badge is pretty annoying.

I'll try to keep the OP updated with info so people in the future can do the same.

Show us some pictures of the front badge. It is expensive because the radar for the cruise control/auto high-beam/brake assist is located in it.

I tinted my emblem cause I found it too flashy, think the sun damage wouldn't be visible with tint on.

What vinyl tint did you end up using? I saw the bullet's garage video on it, and have been on the fence. I am sure I could sand it out then reclear, but I would rather have a new badge then clear bra/tint.

However, seeing another blue car with the tinted badge looks great.

Tinting it is the way to go for both emblems. You can also reach out to @pete39sp on instagram if you want one made in that color.

CL5 will get you 10% from mylparts.com. There are other parts vendors with lower prices, but usually they make it up with silly shipping costs. The guys I normally buy from want $329.53 but $21.43 for shipping from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta. I've bought quite a few things from mylparts.com because they used to do free shipping and they were really hard to beat with the Club Lexus discount and free shipping. I bought a new under cover for my Supra and shopped until I found someone with a reasonable shipping price ($23) vs. all the other sites quoting literally hundreds to ship a largish piece of lightweight plastic. It arrived in perfect condition.

Another option is to replace the front emblem with one from the LX460/LX570:

A few RC-F guys have done the swap - looks like a little bit of plastic shaving needs to be done, but a fairly direct swap (detailed here) - seems like the radar stays functional as well.

How to remove the old badge:

Sorry, you can’t use that. The GSF has radar integrated into it. That’s why it’s $400.

The radar unit is located BEHIND the badge. The "radar ready" badge itself is just plastic, and flat on the back side. There doesn't appear to be any legit reason why it's $400.

The RC-F guys have the same concern. The "how to" FB thread linked above mentions this fact, and it was addressed.

Reviving a necro thread because this became a project today. I really didn't like how this was looking, and it made no sense to me why it looked so bad when the headlights still look very bright.

I saw a Project Farm video yesterday where he compared headlight restoring kits. The Cerakote kit was the hands down winner, and they have them in stock at my local Walmart, so I decided to try this. FWIW, I also did the headlights on my IS F because one of them was original, and the other was replaced in 2016 and the original one was looking a bit tired. Anyway, you can see the result here - for a whopping $17 and some elbow grease. Never mind the grimy look on the car, it got splashed a lot during the restoration process and will get a proper wash later.

Absolute perfection? Not exactly, but wow, what a difference! Now to see how well it holds up - Cerakote has a strong warranty, but you never know. I talked to another Lexus owner who used the Sylvania kit (a previous "best of breed" solution), and he said the coating came right off with the first application of Bug n' Tar cleaner. He ended up getting his headlights PPD'd to protect them. Time will tell!
