GS F True Trunk Size, Advice Please.

Default GS F True Trunk Size, Advice Please.

I drive an IS F that I absolutely love. As a previous M-Car owner, I am at the stage in my life where reliability and cost of ownership take precedence over maximum performance. That being said.... I think the Lexus F-Cars offer the best overall aspects of performance car ownership. I will be purchasing another vehicle within the next 12 months, I have never owned a SUV and I don't want to start now (Wife). The GS F is at the top of my list, when I check the specs Lexus says the truck volume is 14 cubic feet, while they say the GS 350 has 18.4 cubic feet. When I look at other 3rd party publications I see the GS 350 rated at 16.3 cubic feet. Can anyone that is familiar with both the GS F and GS 350 confirm that there is a true significant difference between their actual sizes? and if so, also explain why? My IS F has 13.3 cubic feet of trunk space, I was really hoping that the GS F's trunk was significantly larger. I don't see this as a "deal breaker" but this being the case will go a long way towards helping me convince the Wife that this is the right decision. Thank you very much.

I used to own an ISF; couldn't make it work with 2 kids and car seats - went to an Ls then LX, just recently bought the GSF. The interior size Is pretty good and the trunk feels much larger than ISF. I mean I can fit my family of 3 kids and wife in the GSF and stuff in the trunk I traded my LX for this( I had 2 LX570s); 1 baby and two kids under 10 just give you an idea. even though I have an RX/LX they like to ride in the GSF because I guess is fun.

I miss the ISF; in hindsight I should have just kept it, I think it was more fun to drive than the GSF in the corners and such, GSF is a awesome car I love it, puts a smile on my face every time.

I have an IS F and a GS F in the garage now. The trunk in the GS F is incomparably bigger than the IS F. They're not even in the same league. Same with the back seat.

I can confirm that the GS350 and GSF have identical trunk volume.
I say this because my GSF came with a spare tyre, and when I removed it and wanted to replace the trunk liner, I used one from the GS350 at the dealer.

I traded my '11 ISF 2 weeks ago for a GSF. The primary reason was space. Living with the ISF for 3 years, it is very confined. Driver and passengers are almost shoulder to shoulder in the front. Don't plan on sharing the arm rest. The GSF feels much larger inside... like 12+ inches larger. As for the trunk, I'd estimate the volume to be almost 1.75x the size of the ISF. I could barely get 2 golf bags in my ISF, now the GSF should easily fit 4.

Also, totally agree with the OP comments about F cars regarding reliability and cost of ownership over performance. Its the balance of priorities that aligns with where I'm at in life too.

Thank you very much DDLexus, I plan to keep IS F and get the GS F for "the One Whom I must obey" so this is very good news. I have looked at a few GS F's on the lot while having my car serviced but I did not pay a lot of attention to the trunk because I wasn't close to purchasing at that time. I haven't driven a GS F at this point either, how does it compare to your previous IS F? Thank you again, stay safe.

I had the 2011 ISF with the softer stock suspension, which was still pretty stiff compared with the GSF. The 2017+ GSF also have adjustable suspension, so you have more control over firmness.After an hour drive in the ISF, I found that the seats are not that comfortable. I've tolerated it for 500+ mile drives, but i was not enjoyable. The GSF seats are much nicer and will fatigue you less.

As for handling and power... i think the ISF handles better. Might be the suspension tricking you into thinking that, but it felt more planted to the road. Perhaps the weight of the GSF also makes it feel less nimble. I've taken the ISF to the Tail of the Dragon a few times and it was a fantastic car on those tight turns. I'll do the same with the GSF in the coming weeks/month and report back.

From an interior space perspective, the GSF has plently of headroom (with a helmet if you autox), legroom for front and rear passengers (unlike the ISF), and has better technology (Nav, Blind Spot, laser cruise, etc).

I've only driven the car a few times since my purchase, so I'm not the best for making a final judgement.

spot on, I had a ISF for almost 4 years bought It new and loved it; I regret trading it in but I did remember I could corner it harder and just push it move overall. Felt more raw; the GSF is little tame I guess and much more comfortable in longer drives. I wish I also had Isf just to have one it was such an awesome car. I appreciate the larger room inside in GSF because now kids are getting bigger and I can take them to tuition and such. Great you are keeping the ISF!

From a couple of posts I made a while back:

09-08-17 - I have both. Still. I alternate driving them because the GS F is the wife's car and the IS F is my car.

I like my IS F more.

It's more violent than the GS F and I only have to hit one button to make me happy when I start it instead of two. The GS F rear wallows on fast turns where the IS F is stable. The OS Giken LSD is still (IMHO) superior to anything else I have driven.

The GS F infotainment is unquestionably better, and the instrumentation with HUD is beyond anything I could imagine in the IS F. But the fun factor isn't there.
There is very little difference in driver space between the Supra, IS F, and GS F. I have them all in my garage. We can do an easy comparison any day here in Atlanta.

I like my IS F more.

If the GS F were lighter, more nimble, and felt like it was battling for traction every time I mashed the gas to engage the kickdown switch, I might feel differently, but it doesn't do that. Don't get me wrong, I like the GS F for what it is, but it isn't an IS F. It can't be.

11-16-16 - I've been driving them back to back for a couple of weeks now. Issue #1 - the kickdown switch in the GSF is too stiff and artificially limits WOT. I chopped the springs in my ISF's kickdown switch and it is no longer noticeable when I go WOT. I think I need to do the same thing to the GSF to be fair. Issue #2 - the GSF seems so much more gentlemanly than the ISF. My ISF throws me back in the seat with an attitude while the GSF squeezes me back. It's just not the same, but both cars leave the average driver in the average car totally for dead. Issue #3 - I am still sorting out all the options on the GSF, and just today I figured out the mirrors will not do stupid things in reverse if you pair the key with the personalized settings. I've bee suffering because I normally set my mirrors to zero overlap, and the damned things go crazy wide if you don't have a key paired to the seating preset. The ISF does not do this. Pissed me off to no end at first because I always back into my garage, and more often than not, back into parking spaces to ensure I don't scuff the carbon fiber nose (OK, I do the same thing with my ISF too).

I had to read the OP's initial question 3 times just to be sure what exactly he was looking for.
I am quite sure he wanted to confirm the difference in trunk space between GS350 and GSF.

But now after reading through the posts, I think he wanted to know the differences between ISF and GSF!
