I've had an account on CL for several years albeit not relatively active as I come here for a great source for information. I've gone thru several performance cars and their related car forums and never had any issues until my return to the Lexus world on CL. Apparently I need to know someone on here that can vouch for me? I'm definitely not about to ask anyone here to vouch for me, however how are you guys getting to know people that have a GSF AND are active on CL AND will vouch for you to sale an item? Seems like quite an amount of hoops to buy and sell on the marketplace. Are you guys hunting down Lexus car meets and saying "hey would you vouch for me?"
I understand scammers and shady people take advantage of car forums, but perhaps tagging our pictures with our usernames could help? Anyways, I'm just going on a rant now but it's terribly difficult to find someone to vouch for me as a new member of the GSF club. I've had much more success on Lexus FB groups and thought it would be much better received here.
^^^^Hi sorry you're unhappy with the CL's rules. But too me they make perfect sense. You need a vouch because of your lack of "productive posts". It's clearly stated in the rules of the forum.
Club Lexus has implemented some reasonable restrictions for members who have been on Club Lexus for less than 30 days and have made less than 30 productive posts. This rule is in place to make Club Lexus a safer sales environment and to reduce spam.
Members who have been active readers but are infrequent posters will also meet the classified access criteria to create posts after 6 months membership AND 5 productive posts.
Your first sentence say's it all IMHO:

IOW, to use the facilities of the forum you need to be a productive member or get a productive member to vouch for you.
The irony is within this post I'm suggesting a more productive approach to the marketplace, but hey if the mods spend their valuable time everyday checking post after post to meet specific criteria, than I will have to follow suit. Just thought I could help make this a better place.

Some do some don't. You don't need a GS F owner to vouch. You need a CL member who knows you well enough and has met the posting criteria to say, yeah, this is a stand up guy. Might there be better ways to do this? Sure, but there are a few issues you might not understand. We get 10's of thousands of new accounts registered weekly by bots to post advertising or malicious links on Club Lexus. Not 1's, 10's, 100's, but 10's of THOUSANDS. This particular forum has a very old and large membership with a solid financial demographic and is very attractive to miscreants. I see it all the time as a moderator.
Last, but not least, moderators are ALL volunteers. We do what we can when we can. We all have preferred forums and places we frequent on the site. No one is telling us we MUST do anything. So, take it for what it's worth, what we have in place today works reasonably well and doesn't make the moderating team throw their hands in the air and leave. Just FYI, and as Lou said, these were the terms you agreed to when you signed up for an account.
