Default Front seat heater question

Mine barely gets warm at all and is completely inadequate during very cold weather. I brought my car to the dealership and they told me they had a similar complaint wherein they changed out the heating element in the car but did not make a difference. The only way they can check is when they have another GSF for sale in the dealership, which they do not have right now. Another fellow owner tells me his is the same.

How hot does your front seat get when you turn on the seat heater?

I've actually never used mine so this was a good opportunity to try it out. I just pulled my car out of the garage and left it on both driver and passenger sides for about 5 minutes. They might as well not be there as i can barely tell they're on.

Mine sits in my garage mostly during the winter and warms up pretty quickly when I get in, so I've never tried using them before today. Completely agree, I wish I was there when they were developing this to see who signed off on putting these heaters in.

Wow. Sounds like it's confirmed the front seat heaters do suck, LOL. Must be because of the seat design as the heating elements themselves are not rocket science.

My Lexus service REP recommended that the way to get it resolved is to call Lexus corporate and file a complaint.

Here you go, just called them. I used prompt 5 "Dealer and Vehicle issue"

MONDAY–FRIDAY, 8 AM–8 PM, ET
SATURDAY, 9 AM–6 PM, ET
1-800-255-3987

I got assigned a case number and will be contacted by a Lexus REP.

Everyone with this issue, please call and file your complaint so we can get corrective action.

The heat range on the GSF seats (and most Lexus seats) are small. IMO, they aren't the greatest. But if you have a laser thermometer, press it against the seat and take multiple reading on the seat back and cushion, then average them out. The elements themselves can get up to 106-110, so with the cushion, I'd say about 90 or so.

That's good to know but the primary criterion to me is whether or not it warms up my behind and back comfortably enough when the weather is cold. It does not.

It's a subjective opinion but having had multiple cars w/ seat heaters, Lexus included, my butt tells me the GSF seat heaters barely gets warm and does not accomplish the mission its required to do

Agreed. On my old camry, we'd occasionally play pranks on people by turning on the seat heater on max on the passenger side in the summer... the person sitting in the seat would start getting uncomfortably warm until either we started laughing and gave it up or they noticed it was on.

UPDATE: I have a case number with Lexus. They will be in comms with my Lexus dealership and work it out so they can get another GSF to test the seat heater. If results are still the same, Lexus said they will send a Lexus TECH REP to check it out. One point I made with Lexus is that you need a seat heater that only gets very warm, you need it get very warm QUICK. The whole point of a seat heater is get your behind warm while the water temp is still going up when it is very cold, as that is where the cabin heater get its heat. If it does not heat up quick or warm enough, it does not do what its supposed to do.

Yea the seat warmer totally sucks. I live in Toronto and when it is -20degrees you start to wonder if they even did any test for the seat warmer.

Even my old 2006 IS250 was 3x warmer and warms much faster.

Each one of you who agrees, please file a complaint with Lexus. The more, the better!

I leave mine on auto and it is usually starts on the 1 or 2 setting leaving work in the afternoon, or 1 backing out of the garage. It warms the seat enough for me, but I never feel it gets hot. My wife used to have a Volvo XC90 and that would get so hot on the 3rd setting that it would get uncomfortable.
