So...driving to work today and almost immediately after coming to a stop at a traffic light I get rear ended. Luckily the driver wasn't going too fast so the damage was minimal. Something weird happened (I think) -- the car shifted into park by itself. After I got hit I went to the put the car into park and turn the hazards on, but the car was already in park. I sometimes drive with one hand on the shifter so perhaps I moved it into park on the jolt of getting hit...but I don't know. Is it possible somehow the car did it by itself?
Sorry about your incident and I have never heard of a car going into park and being you said you drive with your hand on the shifter, I would deduct you hit it or your reflexes took over after being hit and you applied your footbrake and threw it into park subconsciously. That said, I would make mention of it when you have your car inspected by insurance and the dealership for them to look at your driveline.
As far as the accident damage, looks like just a bumper cover and diffuser. Be sure to get your car to a good shop for I have read your color (USB) is a tough one to match for some shops.
I assume you got hit in Cobb county? Gwinnett here.
Thanks -- yea I probably did it subconsciously but figured I'd ask, cars these days do some interesting things! I'll have the insurance/dealership look at everything just to make sure -- thanks for the advice.
