Hey all, I'm a new member and looking forward to purchasing a GSF. I've owned many BMW M's and a few Porsches and have been a die hard fan but both brands seem to be going in a new direction and after driving the GSF, I fell in love with the analog feel.
To my question...I have driven a 2017 but not a 2016 GSF. I understand the 2017 now has adaptive dampers. I really prefer my cars to ride stiff (and felt the 2017 was great) but with 2016's being priced so low I am tempted to get one. Anyone driven both? Does anyone know if the 2016 rides more or less stuff than the 2017? Hoping it's even more stiff than the 2017 but most reviews claim the 2016 rides a bit "soft"...

I asked the same question when I was shopping for my GSF, never driven a 2017 but the 2016 is pretty stiff imo. Do you plan on upgrading the suspension anytime soon? If you do then this is really a non-issue and you should save some money if you can get a good deal on a 2016.

Hey thanks! No plans to upgrade the suspension so just looking for the stiffest option out of the box.
To answer the other question - the 2016 is out of state.
My GSF is definitely a bit harsher than my IS350 FSport, yet I think allot has to do with the tires and their age. I am not concerned they will wear out quickly enough.
Following up on this for those questioning in the future. I drove both back to back and found the 2017 to have better control on the dampening - not harsh but slightly more controlled.
That being said, I'm pretty sensitive to suspension tuning...when it's bad it's a serious pet peeve of mine...and the 2016 is still good in my opinion. The difference would likely go unnoticed and be unneeded for most.

I am of the same mind as above; I will take the huge discount over the fancy shocks any day. There is always good choices aftermarket anyhow.
Does anybody have more details on how the suspension adjusts? I don't think they are using magnetorheological shocks like on the Chevy and Caddilacs. Curious how they work, how they adjust, and how replacement costs may vary from the non-adjustable.

I'm not and engineer or an expert but in basic terms, the vechicle can raise or lower the pressure of the fluid in the dampers. Imagine a basketball at spec pressure vs a half deflated ball...the full ball would be harder to push on...same for the dampers...higher the pressure, stiffer the ride and vice versa.

Haha...I am an engineer, and I get the basic concepts, was just curious how Lexus implements this on the car vs other brands.
