Does GSF Suffer Downshift Delay Plauging RCF?
Guys,
I was wondering if the GSF suffers from the same issue as the RCF and that is when cruising between 30-40 mph and applying heavy throttle the vehicle hesitates for what seems like a few seconds before it finally gets up and goes (this happens in all modes except Sport S+). I'm so frustrated by it, bc I can't understand how it was ignored during development and testing...pursuit of perfection my a$$. Why should I have to drive in manual mode or Sport S+ to avoid the issue and why doesn't Lexus issue a bulletin to correct the problem? It's a good transmission, it just needs to be reprogrammed...by an actual enthusiast rather than someone trying to get 28MPG out of it

If the 2016 model(s) don't exhibit the same delay, then the settings in the ECU were probably remapped which means that if I pulled the ECU from a 2016 model and swapped it out with the one in my 2015 it should solve my problem. I highly doubt that they changed anything else mechanically. Getting the dealership to do it is going to require some convincing - maybe I'll let them drive both to see what I'm talking about bc it irritates the hell out of me
If i'm cruising in 8th gear then it takes a good 1.5-2 seconds to kick down to 2nd at 40mph. If i am in 6th, then it takes only about 1/2 second to kick down to 2nd. So if you tip in and get a light kick down to 6th first then hit the throttle hard it kicks down fast. I agree it needs some programming! I'd buy a tune if just for better trans tuning only. They need to get BMW to tune the shifting. Toyota and BMW already work together. Why not get the Germans involved and make it shift right?
