Unlike most I actually enjoy using the shifter in manual mode to go through the gears, but the push to upshift and pull to downshift always annoyed me. It feels so unnatural and I much prefer pulling the shifter to upshift and pushing to downshift.
If you have small fingers you can remove the connector without pulling the entire center console. I got mine disconnected with a pocket screwdriver and a pick.
Connector located here
You will need to de-pin and swap the white and yellow wires. Use a pick to lift the terminal locking tab Use the smallest pin you can find to depin the connector Lift the white plastic tab with the pin while pulling the wire out of the connector. It will release. Re-lock the locking tab and this is what the wiring should look like now. Re-connect and reassemble the center console
Good info. I've never bothered with the GS F since it's the wife's car and I never use manual mode on it.
I don't recommend using a pin for this. Too easy to damage the connector body with the point. I took a stainless steel turkey lacing needle 1.4mm in diameter, squared it off at 1mm, flattened the end, and made a bevel on the end just like the Toyota manual says to make the tool. I did the same with some aluminum welding rod, but it doesn't work nearly as well as the stainless steel one does.
They also have three special pin tools 09991-00500, 09991-00510, and 09992-01030. I've never needed any of them in my 40 years of working on Toyota/Scion/Lexus vehicles.
