Default Potential new GSF ower, input needed

Hi, long time admirer of the GSF, never owned a Lexus but I'm so disillusioned with BMW that I think it's time to own one.

Previous cars: E63s AMG wagon Renntech Stage 1, 2008 BMW 550i 6spd, 2003 BMW 540i 6spd, Porsche 911 Turbo S. I'm looking to sell the 911 Turbo S now actually because it's just too much car for me (and the street).

I prefer to purchase the newest (latest model year) GSF with the lowest miles I can find. There's a gorgeous 2020 GSF in white over red for sale in NJ right now, but I can't tell if the steering wheel is original or modded, and if there are any other modifications that are not desirable? The carfax looks pretty clean though. I'm pretty flexible on color but have a soft spot for red interior, orange brake calipers, and any other niche options that would make a car unique. If it weren't a daily driver in MN, I'd be shopping for the early year creamsicle orange cars with orange calipers! I already have one loud color car (yellow M3) so prefer something more understated at least for the exterior color.

I'd appreciate any advice on whether a 2019 or 2020 are worth it over earlier years, colors/options desirability, and helpful shopping tips and what to look for. I'm located in MN and plan to drive the car year round (with snow tires).

The steering wheel and shift **** are not stock. The brake calipers have been painted or powder coated blue, and the exhaust tips are not stock. However, the modifications mentioned seem to be very well done.

Welcome to the forum

Thank you. That was my suspicion on the steering wheel and shift ****.

Given the rarity of 2020's (just found the production #'s post) I wonder if it's worth it to chance buying this one and trying to reverse mods that I don't find to be ............. keeping with my sense of style! In other words, is that OEM steering wheel and shift **** still available?

I do agree with the previous person that the mods do look pretty cool but also know it’s a personal choice. I highly doubt the dealer has the original parts for that car as they are a high volume dealer and sell the cars as they come in. It’s possible oem options are available online or on marketplace. You will definitely enjoy the vehicle if you get it no regrets. My 19 Caviar with red interior

That example looks almost identical to mine. As others have stated, the steering wheel, shift **** and seat inserts have been upgraded with aftermarket carbon fiber (approx $2k+) and the axle back is not OEM. I'd ask about the mid pipe as well if you're considering purchasing. I replaced my mid pipe and axle back and can tell you it has completely changed the driving experience in a positive way (non daily driver). If you do purchase, I recommend a full front clip PPF Xpel as these bumpers can take a serious beating.

This is a clean car and you won't regret it! Welcome to the forum!

Thanks everyone, this input makes me feel better that these aren't autozone mods with carbon fiber stickers at least. Regarding the original steering wheel and shift ****, I meant whether Lexus still had any of these parts available new to purchase through a dealer and put this car back to stock.

Yes, oem parts are available for purchase. I believe the blue calipers are stock but everything else as mentioned is aftermarket. I actually have a stock steering wheel available. It’s still in great condition but not perfect.

I owned an E39 M5, then an E60 M5 "SMG" and then a GSF.
The GSF is a mix of these two BMW's, it has the electronic feel of the E60, but is nimble like the E39.

I cannot bring myself to justify any model year GSF because they're all so good. However, if price difference is massive, I would go for earlier models and skip the ADS suspension all together.

That's the best way I can describe it.

Thanks for that info, very helpful coming from a fellow BMW M-car/5-series owner and enthusiast.

There is a dark grey GSF for sale locally I realized at the Audi dealer so I'm going to go check it out today or tomorrow to get a feel for the car in person.

If you do end up going with the first option, you could potentially make some $ back selling those mods here on the marketplace. Personally i would be interested in the shift **** and seat inserts, depending on price.

You are correct on the brake calipers. 2020 models could have blue or black brake caliper colors. My GSF with stock brake calipers pictured below.

I went and looked at this 2017 today since it is local to me. Unfortunately roads are a mess from an inch of snow overnight and temps in the teens so no test drives. I did hear the startup and got to look it over and sit in it though.

I'm exploring a deal with them, but I prefer a 2020. Can't believe I missed the white one in TX that just sold on Cars and Bids 4 days ago!! I checked BAT, autotempest, cars.com, but didn't check Cars and Bids.

Do any of these cars have the heated steering wheel besides the 10th anniversary models? I also joined the facebook group and have had great help from Scott Hibbeler on my questions about his list of vins.

Just saw you are local to me, shoot me a pm if you're willing to talk on the phone for a few about your experience owning this in MN.

As others have said, definitely aftermarket but looks like could be Elvin Wong carbon aftermarket stuff…really great quality and would be gobbled up in a heartbeat on the forum marketplace. FWIW on that white 2020, it looks like it also has a roof wrap, chrome delete around the windows, and rear blacked out lights. If all that is wrap and tint, shouldn’t be hard to bring it all back to the OEM stock look. Bell Lexus North Scottsdale is a great dealership for sourcing parts and they always have sales especially around the holidays. Could be a nice one and seems like only 50% for sale are no accidents. Good luck and Happy hunting!

@flipwils11 I have a 2016 GSF atomic silver with red interior and as @designo said to justify the premium for a 2020 over a 2016 you really are not gaining that much more. 2020 gets black center door trim, black mirrors, all speed radar speed cruise control + brake hold (these were added in 2018), and the AVS (added in 2017).

The one you are looking at is local to me (within 15 min), so if you need someone to go look at it in person I can assist! The rims on the 2020 may not be the original as the dark solid silver rims were the base option for 2017-2019 models. In 2020 the base color rims were the solid black.

If you are stuck on wanting the heated steering wheel, your best option is paying the premium for a 2016 Canadian GSF which came with the heated wheel and a ton of other features that every other market has.
