2017 GS350 AWD engine clatter noise during cold morning startup
#32
So I have the clatter, I understand the constant tapping is the fuel pump but I get intermittent what sounds like hydraulic lifter taps, more so on the drivers side of the engine towards the rear.
Has anyone tried Castrol Edge 0W20 oil?

I know, this is the old thread, but they have a TSB for it. Some say it continues the noise after, others say it worked. L-SB-0010-18, Although, I bet dealers wouldn't want to fool with it under warranty. I'm going to try thou.

So it looks like I may have the same issue in my 16 GS F Sport but I'm trying to confirm whats happening. I bought my car recently as CPO and took it in soon as I heard the noise, but the dealer just got back to me today saying they aren't able to replicate the noise. I uploaded a recording of the sound a few minutes on Youtube, can anyone confirm that what I'm hearing is the L-SB-0010-18 TSB from Lexus? Before I contact Lexus again, I want to be sure I can give them some solid evidence or direction so they don't come back again with the same thing.

Not to alarm you, but yeah, that sounds kinda bad and unacceptable. Mine sounded like that on some occasions, I got the vacuum pump replaced and I poured half a bottle of Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer. The noise is less prominent, but I can still hear it. Also, the weather on the east coast has been relatively warm, don't know if the cold affects it. I will report back since it will be in the 30s tonight.
I love the car, but I'm kinda bumped out because of how it sounds.

@byungkuk
what is DI?
@Mewannalex
agreed it sounds pretty awful. I'm really just hoping Lexus can acknowledge it and fix it but it sounds like replacing when you did replace the vacuum pump it didn't necessarily fix it?
Also, here is another video I found on Youtube of another GS350 owner who seems to have recorded the same sound I did. His is a lot louder though it seems -
