Used 2015 with Mileage Inconsistency on Carfax?
Looking for a 2015 GS 350 to join the family and I found this car but the carfax reported a mileage inconsistency. Big deal or no? Could be just a mistype when entering?
The VIN is JTHBE1BL1FA007693

does the ODO say 30K? if it does, then a typo, I googled the VIN and saw the ad, and the ad says 20k
I'm wondering if it is supposed to be 30,644 and someone mistyped, but the only way to know is to look at the car's ODO.. if it says 20K I would be suspicious of someone swapping the cluster for a better trade value.
does Carfax show anything prior to the 26K report? maybe the tire company goofed?

nothing before that. going to go check it out tomorrow. there wasn't a picture of the ODO online. I'm hoping it was a goof. I finally found one I can afford haha

Not a big deal if it's a clean car but u might have warranty issues with the dealer or when your trying to resell it, I would stay away unless it's a really good deal. My last GSFSports became frame damage all of a sudden after 6 months into buying it. I sold it and got a clean Carfax. It's too much hassle when ur reselling the car.

I had this happen on my last car. I was out of town and had to get an oil change at a Midas at some point during my ownership. They fat fingered it and put the wrong mileage. I didn't find out till I was selling the car and the dealer ran the carfax. I called the customer support number for Midas and explained what happened and sent them a copy of the Carfax and they fixed it. I would try to reach out to the service center and or have the dealer reach out and have it fixed. I was getting low-balled on my trade before it got fixed so you'll definitely have problems when you sell it and possibly warranty work but it's a common error that's easily fixed.

How do you even change a digital odometer? I have gone to plenty of tire places for balancing/alignments and most all are very careless about documenting proper mileage. Most just ask me how much mileage and take my word for it. So I am going to suspect the tire shop as being the culprit of this inconsistency.

That still doesn't make any sense. So the computer that controls how many miles are on the car is contained in the cluster? That should obviously be stored elsewhere that is impossible to remove.

When replacing the gauge cluster, a sticker is supposed to be put onto the driver's side door frame listing the details and mileage of the gauge cluster replacement. Of course, if you don't care about the law, then all bets are off.

Just saying, make it prohibitively hard to do. Removing the cluster does not achieve that.
