Sound like you overfill, what was the oil level? Above the 2nd dot? I think you didn't drain all the old oil out before you addin new oil in, try to drain some out. Keep the oil level below the 2nd dot.

Did you drain the oil pan under the car? This is where most of the oil is, not the filter housing.

Uhh... did you also undo the drain bolt?

I just don't see how you'd be able to pour in 5 quarts if you only drained the filter.

It sounds like u only drained the filter, u didn't mention the oil drain plug being opened, thats probably y.

OP - (Prinny) make sure you have a really big bucket ready when you remove the drain plug on the oil pan. A lot of oil is going to come out. If you really haven't been removing the drain plug, you'll probably have 3 or 4 gallons of oil come out, if I understand what you've been doing correctly from your posts.
