Default Overhead Console Removal

Can anyone provide some tips on how to remove the overhead console? I have a rattle that is driving me crazy. I would like to remove this and attempt to fix it.

You shouldn't even need any tools. Go to the very front plastic piece (closet to the windshield) pull down gently and work your way around. I just did this yesterday after hard wiring my radar detector.

Check if your rear view mirror is loose. Mine was very loose, just had to tightend the toric bolt on it.

Yea, it is scary to tug but it takes some force to get the tabs to release the unit. Give it a slow firm increase in pulling pressure on the side closest to the windshield and it should pop out.

The hard part is getting it back in. One of the sides has a hook type of clip if I recall right and you have to position it just right for it to lock back in or that one side will not go completely snug against the headliner as it was before. It took a few tries to get it to hook and stay snug.

There is not really much in there to rattle around. It is mostly pieces screwed into the panel, wires and empty space. I would do what peasodos recommended and check your mirror first.

Thanks for all the replys. When I push up on the corner of the console it stops making a noise. I think the noise results from friction with the headliner due to vibration. I'll check the mirror though.
