Default Rexing V1 dashcam in gs350 fsport

Hey guys i'm trying to hardwire the dashcam but its not turning on. I didn't use a 12a to 5a voltage converter since my friend's car doesn't have it and it works when plugged into his. I have the fuse tapped into the navigation fuse with 10a fuse for the navi and 5a fuse for the dashcam, i grounded the wire to the screw on the fuse box. When i turn on the car the navigation works but the dashcam doesn't work. What am I doing wrong??

Did you use the 12v to 5v converter? is it necessary?

You need the converter. The electrical system from that fuse area is 12v.

Use something like this, it should plug directly into your camera too.

I used this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AYS4JZ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and tap into the positive light green wire next to red and negative off the green on the corner off panel for sunroof switch and lights
