Default Question about Fuse Tap and fuse box

Planning to use fuse tap to install dash cam and wondering which fuse should I tap?

You could tag a wire at the brake switch that comes on with ignition, or pop your center console up and tag the wire going to your cigarette lighter plug... Fuse taps are not a good thing.

depends. i have motion detection and g-sensor on my dashcam. in order for me to use both of those options while my car is off, i had to tap into an always hot fuse. in this case, i tapped into my passenger fusebox with the alarm fuse (since you need power to unlock your car, this is always hot). never had any problems and still working fine till this day!

if you wanted to wire it so that it's on only with the ignition, you would have to tap into a fuse that's on only when the ignition is on (ie. cigarette lighter). i used an add-a-circuit fuse tap with a 2amp fuse if that helps.
