Default Constant engine tick?

Is this normal? I've heard this is normal for all Toyotas/Lexus?

I'm a little worried about this.. not going to lie. I just picked up my 2013 a week ago and didn't notice it?

it's likely the fuel injectors. it doesn't happen all the time, i don't hear it often

To be safe, have the manifolds inspected for cracks. It happened with our old LX 470.

Isn't this because of the direct injection? Completely normal if that is where the sound is coming from.

I hear it if I open the window or door while sitting in the driveway. I never worry about it as it's fairly common with fuel injected engines.

Chances are the ticking noise you hear is from the Direct Injection System, which is common with all vehicles that use direct injection. Click HERE and you will see that you and your Lexus are not alone with the clicking noise.

Hi folks, I know this thread is a bit dated, and I'm new to owning a Lexus and to this forum. I just bought a 2015 Lexus GS F Sport (pre-owned). The only annoying / concerning thing is the loud ticking from the engine. I'm reading in the forum that this might be normal, but wanted to post a video to confirm.
Thank you so much for any feedback. If I should post in another spot in the forum, happy to do so.
Thanks,
Darron

Toyota V6's (2GR series, at least) all do it, to varying degrees. My Camry with 2GR-FE does it, but the GS 350's 2GR-FSE, every one of them I've ever heard is much louder It's more apparent at idle than anything else.

You probably didn't notice it at first because with the windows up and AC on, probably can't hear it much.....

+1 fuel injectors. Pretty common on Toyota products. Our old '01 Highlander V6 would do that sometimes as well.....

I bought my car on ebay and when I took it off the trailer and drove it home at night I thought I bought a lemon because of the engine sound. I thought there was something seriously wrong because of the tick, I came from a inline 6 BMW engine and a ls430 v8 which are very smooth engines. After reading up I saw it was a normal sound, it almost sounded like a diesel to me. That combined with some burning rubber/plastic smell had me upset the first night but its all good now. I'm pretty sure I made a thread of a video I posted at the same spot, heh

normal.. even our LS460 does it.. I think LS430 is quieter at traffic lights due to this noise..

I don't "hear" it anymore though.. i've gotten so used to it. and you will too
