Dealer Service Issues: Now Resolved :)
I recently dropped off my vehicle last Friday to get an estimate on some minor hail damage, wipers replaced, a trunk popping sound that's made when opening and closing my trunk lid. I'm 100% sure that its the torsion rod support and Part # 6412730150 that is a black plastic piece and broke. And Lastly for the Limited Service campaign for the passenger seat (SRS) system.
They called yesterday and said my car was ready for pickup. He went over the work they performed and told me that they found the rattle sound coming from the trunk to be the rear tail lamps and considered it" a normal characteristic on this type of vehicle of the same year and model." But, I still have a broken Torsion rod support that they didn't replace that I specifically pointed the piece out to them on the service drive and its 100% broken. I compared it with another GS350 and my loaner ES.
Upon picking up my vehicle I did a walk around and notice that my rear driver side wheel had been scratched. Culver Patterson my service advisor apologized and said they would take care of it.
So I left the dealership and immediately drove to the gas station since my gas light was on with 3 miles till empty. After getting to the gas station around the corner from the dealership I popped my trunk to find the headliner that fits into the trunk lid was just sitting in the trunk with all the clips that hold it in laying all over the floor of my trunk. At this point I'm very frustrated and rushed back to the dealer before close to show them the issue.
Upon further inspection I notice the holes where the clips go into place looked bent and scratched up. Something I would have not noticed if the trunk headliner wasn't just laying in my trunk not re-assembled.
For now, my car is back at the dealer and they are taking care of the wheel and replacing the headliner back to the trunk lid. This has been a major inconvenience and I hope Park Place Steps up so that it all gets resolved appropriately.
What are you guys thoughts on this if you experienced these issues?

I think there is more to this story. Those holes in the trunk lid do not look anything like factory machine made or punch die-cut holes. Are you sure someone hasn't removed the trunk lid liner for some reason and created those ripped-up, split, torn holes (that look more like bullet exit holes)? If those holes were being used with fasteners to hold the trunk lid liner in place I can certainly understand why they didn't hold.

Funny thing is I never said there was a rattle in the trunk, I specifically showed where the torsion rod support was broken causing the torsion rods to sometimes move out of place and make a weird noise when opening and closing the trunk. I didn't take a pic of the broken piece I'm talking about. But this is the torsion rod support in the loaner I have, it's exposed and not covered by the trunk liner in any way.

I forgot to mention that when I bought the car new back in 2013 I was told the car has some light hail damage and it had been fixed by the paint less dent repair guys at Park Place. Because of this they discounted the price of the car to sweeten the deal.
Perhaps back then when the car was being repaired before I made the purchase the P.D.R. guy took out the trunk lid liner and made those holes look the way they do using P.D.R. tools to remove some dings? As long as the messed up looking holes don't pose a problem I suppose its ok. Since you can't see them anyways when the trunk liner is in place.

I think you will find out that the trunk lid liner was okay when the service tech closed the trunk and it likely fell down when he closed the trunk or it fell down soon after you left the dealership. I doubt very seriously that the service tech removed the liner and left it laying in the trunk, because there was no need for him to remove it. I suspect the service tech will be as surprised as you were when the service advisor shows him the trunk lid liner laying in the trunk with the loose fasteners. I am surprised they didn't replace the trunk lid's torsion rod assembly, especially since you actually told them what was making the noise.
Do you know how the wheel got scratched? Maybe by their car wash rail system?
PS - The two Park Place Lexus dealerships (Plano & Grapevine) are excellent dealerships.

I can tell u one thing, every time I got my car back from the dealer there is always a new scratch.
Just did my 10K mile service for my GS and my metal door sills got scuffed and the surrounding area marked with dirty footprints. Before that my old Camry's steering wheel cover got torn by a sharp objects and my door panel got kicked and deeply scratched by the dealer.
Same thing with car wash guys.

I think you just figured out why those trunk lid holes are enlarged, split and ripped - the PDR man used those holes for his tools to remove the nearby hail dents.

I Absolutely didn't consider the carwash and use they do use a guide rail through the tunnel. I always hand wash my car. I will make sure to request that they do not wash my car in the future. Culver my advisor has been very helpful in regards to everything. And when I dropped it off Friday we looked over each wheel together because I had already curbed one wheel drivers side front and I wanted to get it fixed with my tire and wheel protection but it doesn't cover cosmetic scratches. They scratched the drivers side rear during its service visit.
Update: They are sending my car from P.P. Plano to P.P. Grapevine where they have a wheel repair guy to get both wheels refinished. I agreed to go ahead a pay for the one I damaged and they are covering the one they scratched.
BTW I worked for Park Place for 2 1/2 years in the early 2000's when I was in high school as a porter on the service drive. I also worked 5 years at Sewell Lexus in New car Sales. And no doubt they are all excellent dealerships. I was just one of the few people that had a bad experience this time. But it happens and now I've experienced it on both ends.

I bought and had my car serviced three times over there, on schedule. Each time I have to tell them "no wash". One time, they washed it, and guess what? Came out halfway wet, would have left spots if the service manager and myself didn't run around drying it. Also they didn't vacuum when I specifically told them to.
I'm still wondering why my passenger side rear wheel has paint scratched off of three spokes. I don't know where or how it happened, but I almost always hand wash my car and it was shocking to see. Not pointing fingers at anyone, hell maybe I managed to do it and didn't notice. Regardless, I don't trust anyone at a dealer car wash to give a crap about how my car looks. Never wash, never wash.
The problem with any dealership is usually size. Get a big enough place, you'll get some dummies in there sooner or later regardless of how well it is managed. Turds can hide in a bail of hay. My service managers have been good overall, although I did have to push them to get them to refinish my factory defect wheels a few months after I bought it (had runs/streaks, not my fault).
Overall, I'd give Park Place 4/5 stars. The G35 I owned prior to that, and had serviced at Sewell in Dallas, I had a much better service experience then. I would literally walk in with 5 or 6 TSB's and they'd nod, take them, and hand me the keys to a loaner that was identical to my car only newer. With Lexus it's a coin toss what you'll end up driving (not as bad as BMW of course, but Infiniti sure did spoil me).
/end of rambling. Good luck with Park Place, I'm sure they'll get you fixed up this time around.

I would HIGHLY recommend you take your next service visit to Sewell Lexus of Dallas. I've been to all of them over the years and Sewell Lexus of Dallas is the BEST in the DFW area.......hands down.

You'll have people claim that Parks Place Lexus Plano or Park Place Lexus Grapevine is best. Just last week a fellow Lexus owner (SC430) was complaining about Sewell Lexus, saying that he would never go back to that dealership. I've never had a problem with either Park Place Lexus at Plano or Park Place Lexus at Grapevine.

I worked for P.P.L.P. back in 2000-2003 in service. Then Sewell new car sales from 2003-late 2007 until I moved onto bigger and better things.
