Default Headlight died

I have a 2016 and my drivers side headlight and daytime running light died. Should I buy a new bulb and replace it or since my daytime light is out too is it a bigger issue?

Out of curiosity did you already check fuses?

I don't believe there's a bulb to replace, you'd have to replace the whole thing...if it is infact bad.

I believe the 2016+ GS headlight is an LED and it can't be changed. Someone else with first-hand experience should chime in, but as far as I know, the LED for the headlight is built into the housing thus the entire assembly would need to be replaced potentially. I think the only bulb that can be changed within the assembly is the non LED turn signal bulb.

I imagine that your high beams, low beams and DRL are all going to be out.

I'd take it to a shop specializing in electronics/bulbs to see if they can find the problem via some diagnostic testing. It could be as simple as a fuse/loose connection...or maybe a bad headlamp ECU.

A similar issue happened to my dad's 2014 E350 recently, it turned out to be the module that ended up frying and he needed a new one. Definitely see if the fuse needs to be changed first.

@anamynous said: My left LED headlight went out and they covered it under basic warranty.

@Nutybudy - If by chance you have the Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty I believe the LED headlights as well as any headlight-related module/controller are covered under that warranty.

To follow up, after checking fuses, I'd say check it'd be helpful to check any plugs going to the light with a multimeter. Compare the outputs of both sides (the working side and non-working).

I tried to take a peek to see where any connectors might be, and it seems like at least one might be accessible if you peel back the wheel well liner. If you have more time, easier would be to remove bumper to get better access to the lights.

Do any lights work in the headlight? Low beam, high beam, DRL, turn signal, marker light (or w/e you call the little orange one). I don't have a pin out of the connector(s) but maybe they share a common ground point? But really, best place to start (after fuses) would be seeing if you're even getting power at the connector(s).

You sure you check the fuses good? I remember I blew a Fuse on my ES tapping the fuse box, and it was a whole Headlight and DLR on just one side. Replaced with a new fuse and it was fine.

I checked the fuses and they were all intact.

I'm sure you have checked but sometimes a fuse looks good but is not until you pull it. Did you pull it?

If not that then step #2 is look for a Rodent attack somewhere? Every time I see that one it's in a different place at the wiring.
